Summary: This study examines the relationship between nonaccidental injury and subdural hematoma (SDH). The findings suggest that unexplained convulsions are significantly associated with nonaccidental injury.

Summary: The study aimed to investigate the pathologic mechanisms of subdural fluid collection and the pathogenesis of chronic subdural hematoma (CSDH). It was found that different clinical situations contributed to subdural fluid collection and the formation of CSDH, and the recurrence rate was still high even after surgery. Understanding the different pathological mechanisms of subdural lesions and applying appropriate interventions will be important in the future.

Summary: The study shows that infants with CSDH have lower mortality, are more often premature and male, and have higher head measurement parameters. The prevalence of external hydrocephalus is higher in infants with CSDH.

Summary: A 3-month-old male twin with increasing head circumference and a subdural hemorrhage was successfully treated with bilateral drainage and a shunt, while his twin sibling with similar symptoms was managed conservatively and showed improvement. Both twins remained neurologically stable with enlarged head circumference at a 2-year follow-up.

Summary: Male sex, antiplatelet medication, and a lower opening pressure at surgery were identified as risk factors for SDH in iNPH patients with shunts in this Swedish-based registry study. Anti-siphoning devices did not prevent SDH, but allowed for lower opening pressures without increasing the risk of SDH.

Summary: Subdural empyema, caused by various pathogens, typically presents with fever, headache, seizures, and altered consciousness. Salmonella infections, although rare, can lead to atypical symptoms such as gastrointestinal disturbance. Important for pathogen-specific treatment and successful patient outcomes.

Summary: Isolated antiplatelet use is not a significant predictor of the need for critical care interventions or poor functional outcomes among noncomatose subdural hematoma (SDH) patients.

Summary: This study aimed to assess the performance of existing prediction models for outcomes in patients diagnosed with chronic subdural hematoma (CSDH). The results showed that none of the examined models showed good predictive performance for outcomes after CSDH treatment. This study emphasizes the difficulty in predicting outcomes after CSDH and the heterogeneity of CSDH patients.

Summary: This study aimed to determine the impact of thrombocytopenia on preoperative hemorrhage expansion and postoperative outcomes in patients with acute subdural hematoma. The results showed that thrombocytopenia was significantly associated with expansion of hematoma preoperatively and higher in-hospital mortality in these patients.

Summary: Anti-inflammatory treatment reduces the risk of recurrent chronic subdural hematoma (CSDH), but clinical implementation is improper due to side effects. This study aims to investigate the associations between cytokine levels and the risk of recurrence in CSDH patients and identify potential medical targets. The study found elevated levels of interleukin-1 receptor antagonist (IL-1ra) in recurrent CSDH patients, suggesting IL-1ra as a possible target for medical treatment.

Summary: This study found that early and delayed ASDH expansion are different processes with different associated factors, and that elevated systolic blood pressure may be a modifiable risk factor of delayed expansion.

Summary: Subdural hematoma (SDH) is a common intracranial lesion in severe traumatic brain injury (TBI). Contralateral delayed extradural hematoma (EDH) following surgery has been well documented, but there is limited literature on immediate contralateral EDH after SDH evacuation.
