Summary: The aim of this study was to compare the interproximal cleaning efficacy of waist-shaped and straight soft interdental brushes in patients undergoing nonsurgical periodontal therapy. The results showed that there was no significant difference in plaque reduction between the two brush designs after 8 weeks of treatment, indicating similar efficacy for patients with periodontitis undergoing treatment.

Summary: This systematic review aimed to evaluate the efficacy of different toothbrush bristle stiffness and end-shape on interproximal plaque and gingival inflammation reduction. Results showed that soft tapered-tip bristle toothbrushes demonstrated greater reduction in plaque and gingivitis compared to soft end-rounded bristle toothbrushes. Additionally, medium or hard toothbrushes may have better results in noninterproximal cleaners.
