Summary: This study validated a mathematical rule based on soft tissues thickness for choosing the correct implant position to prevent marginal bone loss and bacterial colonization. Implants inserted according to this rule in the Biological Oriented Immediate Loading protocol showed 100% survival rate after 5 years with minimal marginal bone loss. The use of Multi Unit Abutment also contributed to a stable biological seal and successful healing of implants.

Summary: For the treatment of impacted maxillary canines in adults, an alternative approach of retaining the impacted canine in its position and replacing the temporary canine with a dental implant is described. Clinical and CT-Scan examinations can help plan this treatment option to rehabilitate the area with an osseointegrated short implant where a canine is included, as long as there is sufficient remaining bone.

Summary: A systematic review and meta-analysis of 7 randomized controlled trials comparing immediate and delayed loading of 2-implant mandibular overdentures showed no significant statistical difference in terms of implant failure rate and marginal bone loss between the two loading protocols.

Summary: The study aimed to identify contributing covariates to implant failure and marginal bone loss (MBL) at the 1-year follow-up of a novel triangular-neck implant design placed by inexperienced post-graduate students. The survival and success rates of the V3 triangular-neck implant placed by inexperienced post-graduate students were high at the 1-year follow-up, similar to those published in the literature by experienced teams on other implants.

Summary: The purpose of this study was to investigate differences in seed-displacements between the immediate post-implant phase and the time to post-plan CT in seed prostate brachytherapy. Seed positions were analyzed on treatment plans and CT scans for 33 patients, and the resulting dosimetric effects were calculated. The study found that seed-displacements were greater in the immediate post-implant phase compared to the time to post-plan CT, with enhanced displacements in the superior-inferior direction.

Summary: The STIL technique utilizes modular templates to fix pins before tooth extraction, providing a reliable position for subsequent templates for implant insertion and placement of interim prostheses. This method minimizes errors in positioning surgical templates during immediate loading procedures after tooth extraction.

Summary: This article describes a novel approach that combines muco-gingival, regenerative, and prosthetics concepts for immediate implant insertion. By using specific surgical techniques and materials, this approach allows for soft- and hard-tissue augmentation, resulting in good aesthetic outcomes and high patient satisfaction.

Summary: This study explores the perspectives and experiences of edentate individuals regarding the immediate-loading protocol for implant-supported overdenture. The findings indicate that patients are aware and satisfied with this treatment approach. These results have clinical significance in treatment planning for edentulous patients.

Summary: Immediate loading has been introduced in unsplinted mandibular implant-retained overdentures for edentulous patients, aiming to compare the marginal bone loss (MBL) between immediate and delayed loading protocols. The study found no significant difference in MBL between immediate and delayed loading, indicating that immediate loading may be a promising alternative for managing unsplinted mandibular implant-retained overdentures.

Summary: This study assessed the impact of implant placement and temporization timing on esthetic outcomes of single maxillary anterior implants with intact bone walls and interproximal bone. The results showed that both immediate and early implant placement resulted in excellent esthetic outcomes after a 1-year follow-up, with immediate implant placement requiring less chair time.

Summary: The study found that connective tissue graft (CTG) following single immediate implant placement (IIP) can improve mid-facial soft tissue stability, reduce the risk of asymmetry in vertical soft tissue level, and decrease bleeding on probing. While no significant differences were observed in other aspects, the use of CTG is recommended in cases where there is a higher risk of mid-facial recession in the aesthetic zone.

Summary: The study reported a case of dental implant failure with significant bone loss and described the use of reconstructive surgical techniques for treatment. A 58-year-old man with a history of implant surgery and mandibular implant failure was presented. Cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) and intraoral scans were used to collect data, which were exported into Exoplan software to obtain a standard tessellation file. A customized mandible mesh design was created using DentalCAD 3.0 Galway software. The method involved bone reconstruction and the application of a custom titanium mesh based on guided bone regeneration, using a bone mix obtained from a combination of xenograft, allograft, and autograft. Titanium meshes were fixed to the bone with self-drilling screws and covered with a resorbable membrane. An impression was recorded immediately after surgery, and the patient received a milled polymethyl methacrylate interim denture the next day. According to the case study, the custom-made implant can be considered a temporary solution, allowing for guided bone regeneration to take place.

Summary: Preserving marginal bone level is crucial for the success of dental implant therapy. This study found that platform-switching (PS) dental implants showed less reduction in marginal bone level compared to platform-matching (PM) dental implants, and had a positive impact on vertical and horizontal bone defects.

Summary: This study conducted a systematic review to evaluate the application of a novel macroimplant with an angled platform in immediate implant treatment. The results showed a 95.9% survival rate, low marginal bone loss, and minimal soft tissue recession at one year of follow-up. However, caution should be taken in interpreting the findings due to the heterogeneity of the data.
