Summary: This study found that individuals with Takayasu arteritis (TAK) showed abnormal levels of monocyte subsets and related chemokines. Active TAK patients had higher monocyte counts, while glucocorticoid treatment affected the proportion of monocyte subsets. CCL22 was found to have the strongest association with disease activity in TAK.

Summary: Atherosclerosis is a chronic inflammatory disease of artery walls, and the molecular mechanisms involved are still unclear. T cells, especially Th1 cells, have been recognized as important mediators in the pathogenesis of atherosclerosis. This review aims to summarize the role of Th1 cells in atherosclerosis and propose potential preventative and therapeutic approaches targeting specific cytokines and receptors associated with Th1 cells.

Summary: The immune environment plays a crucial role in various types of cancer. This study investigates the influence of Th1 cytokines on pediatric acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL). The findings suggest that TNF-alpha and IFN-gamma can induce apoptosis in ALL cells, though the reaction varies among different cells. The high expression of IFN-gamma receptor and subsequent activation of STAT1 are correlated with cell death.

Summary: Preterm newborns have altered innate immunity and impaired monocyte function, as well as a pro-inflammatory plasma profile. Our research found higher proportions of immature monocytes and CD56(+/-)CD16(+)NK cells, and lower proportions of classical monocytes in preterm infants compared to full-term infants. Gene expression analysis revealed lower inflammasome activation and higher concentrations of alarmin S100A8 in preterm infants' monocytes and plasma. These findings may explain the increased susceptibility of preterm infants to infections and have implications for developing new therapeutic strategies.

Summary: The purpose of this study was to investigate the immunomodulatory effects of phosphonates conjugated with cellulose nanocrystals (CNCs) in human cells. The results showed that the delivery of 3-AminoPropylphosphonic Acid (ApA) via CNCs induced potent dendritic cell-mediated Th1 polarization, which could have potential application in tumor therapy.
