Through a genomic analysis, we studied the transcriptional and chromatin dynamics during somitogenesis, revealing an accelerated rate of somite differentiation as development progresses. We also identified a conserved maturation program followed by all somites, as well as differentiation programs in more developed embryos.

Defects in its development may lead to severe consequences for both the mother and fetus due to misregulated gene expression. Analysis of ChIP-seq data for histone modifications in the mouse placenta identified associations of active and poised promoters and enhancers with different categories of genes, providing a foundation for future studies on gene regulation in the midgestation mouse placenta.

Summary: Advances in single-cell RNA sequencing technologies and bioinformatics methods have enabled the identification of cell types and large-scale gene expression profiling in complex tissues. A study on the intact adult mouse sciatic nerve identified 238 transcription factors expressed in nine different cell types, with myelinating Schwann cells having the highest number of transcription factors. The results not only provide valuable information on the expression patterns of transcription factors in adult peripheral nerves but also facilitate future studies on the function of key transcription factors in nerve homeostasis and disease.
