Summary: Sleep behaviors are associated with common mental disorders among individuals with cardiovascular disease. A study conducted on participants from the UK Biobank found that individuals with a healthy sleep pattern had a lower risk of depression, emphasizing the importance of monitoring and improving sleep health in the prevention of common mental disorders among individuals with cardiovascular disease.

Summary: This study investigated the prevalence of anxiety and depression and associated risk factors among cardiovascular disease patients during the post-COVID-19 period. The results showed that marital status and treatment interruption during the pandemic were independent risk factors for anxiety and depression. Additionally, current monthly income and access to telemedicine during the pandemic were independent risk factors for anxiety.

Summary: Caregivers play a crucial role in supporting patients with chronic diseases, such as heart disease, but often experience caregiver stress. Interventions for caregivers of heart disease patients mainly focus on improving quality of life and reducing burden, depression, and anxiety, with more research needed to develop consistent clinical interventions that improve caregiver outcomes.

Summary: This study investigated the association between cardiovascular drugs and depression/anxiety in patients with cardiovascular disease. The results showed that aspirin was associated with a lower risk of depression, while calcium channel blockers, diuretics, and nitrate esters were associated with a higher risk of depression. Additionally, statin was associated with a lower risk of anxiety, while diuretics were associated with a higher risk of anxiety.

Summary: More than 50% of cardiac surgery patients experience anxiety, stress, and/or depression after surgery, with at least 10% meeting clinical diagnoses. Personal, social, and health service factors can predict post-surgery psychological distress among cardiac patients. Identifying and addressing these factors can help reduce distress and promote optimal recovery.

Summary: Depression and anxiety have predictive value for noncardiac readmission among patients with angina pectoris. Patients with comorbidity of depression and anxiety have worse prognoses compared to those with single mood symptoms. Additional attention is needed for the initial identification and long-term monitoring of mood symptom comorbidity.

Summary: The relationship status of adult congenital heart disease (ACHD) patients was found to be associated with depression, while sex was associated with anxiety. The importance of considering relationship status and potential relationship problems, as well as the role of social support in mental and physical well-being, should be taken into account in treating ACHD patients.

Summary: This study examined the relationship between psychological distress and health perception in patients with a previous myocardial infarction (MI) and/or stroke. The findings showed that patients with anxiety and depression had a worse perception of their health status. Understanding patient health perceptions can aid physicians in providing more patient-centered care and promoting behaviors that improve both cardiovascular disease and mental health outcomes.

Summary: The aim of the study is to pilot the use of Unified Protocol (UP) for the treatment of depression and anxiety disorders in cardiovascular disease (CVD) patients and evaluate its feasibility. Results indicate that the transdiagnostic cognitive behavioral therapy intervention is acceptable for CVD patients with depression or anxiety disorders, but there were challenges in recruiting participants with current disorders and distress. Larger trials are needed to determine the effectiveness of this intervention in populations with CVD and depression or anxiety disorders.

Summary: This study aimed to evaluate the efficacy of vaginal oxygen and hyaluronic acid on genito-urinary symptoms of breast cancer survivors. Treatment with vaginal oxygen and hyaluronic acid every 15 days improved genito-urinary symptoms of breast cancer patients. However, additional studies are needed to determine the optimal treatment interval, duration, and long-term benefits.

Summary: This review discusses the epidemiology, pathophysiology, and clinical features of vasomotor symptoms (VMS) in breast cancer patients and provides an overview of complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) approaches for relieving VMS, with a focus on purified cytoplasm of pollen (PCP). VMS are common in breast cancer patients undergoing hormonal treatment and have a significant impact on quality of life. CAM approaches for VMS include vitamin E, phytoestrogens, and black cohosh, but there is limited evidence to guide treatment choices. PCP, produced according to good manufacturing practices, has a clear pharmacological mechanism, no estrogen activity, and has shown clinical efficacy with a favorable safety profile for menopause-associated symptoms.

Summary: Hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) is a treatment option for various blood diseases. With the increasing use of reproductive technologies, more patients who have undergone HSCT are conceiving, but the pathogenesis of obstetrical complications in these cases is not fully understood. This study presents data on two pregnancies in women who had undergone HSCT, showing that both pregnancies had intrauterine growth retardation due to defective implantation and placenta development, possibly caused by uterine vessel damage from irradiation. Further research is needed to understand the factors influencing placenta development post total body irradiation and HSCT for better pregnancy outcomes in this population.

A retrospective anonymized chart review analysis of ED visits for gynecological disturbances was conducted, and it was found that chronic pathologies such as adenomyosis, endometriosis, and leiomyomas significantly impacted ED use.

Summary: This narrative review examines the role of breast and gynecological risk-reduction surgery in BRCA mutation carriers. It discusses the indications, contraindications, complications, technical aspects, timing, economic impact, ethical issues, and prognostic benefits of the most common prophylactic surgical options. BRCA1/2 mutation carriers have a significantly higher risk of developing breast, ovarian, and serous endometrial cancer. Risk-reducing mastectomy and risk-reducing salpingo-oophorectomy are effective in reducing the risk of breast and ovarian cancer but have side effects such as impact on fertility and early menopause. A multidisciplinary team should inform women considering prophylactic surgery about the implications and hormonal therapies.

Summary: The study aimed to assess the correlation between maternal and fetal anthropometric characteristics and third- and fourth-degree perineal tears. It included all consecutive pregnancies from 2011 to 2017 at a single institution. Nulliparity and feto-maternal BMI were found to be the best predictors for perineal tears. Confirming this association in future research and integrating it into delivery timing decisions could reduce obstetric damage.

Summary: This study investigates the involvement of the aryl hydrocarbon receptor (AhR) and its associated pathway in pre-eclampsia. It finds decreased levels of AhR, IDO1, ARNT, TiPARP, and S100A4 expression in the placental tissues of individuals with pre-eclampsia. The study highlights the need for further research to validate and expand these findings for better management of this complex pregnancy condition.

Summary: This study aimed to assess the factors associated with the success and failure rate of external cephalic version (ECV) in breech fetuses. The results found factors such as nulliparity, maternal race, maternal age, female fetal sex, low fetal weight, and maternal anthropometric features to be correlated with ECV results.
