Summary: Cellulose derivatives such as HEMC and HPMC were used as mesoporous directing agents for the synthesis of hierarchical ZSM-5 zeolite, resulting in zeolites with outstanding mesoporosity and high hierarchy factors. The hierarchical ZSM-5 zeolites showed excellent catalytic performance in the alkylation reaction of benzene and benzyl alcohol.

Summary: In this study, MFI-type cobaltosilicates were successfully synthesized using a novel pretreatment method, with optimal crystallization conditions determined through investigation of various parameters. Characterization techniques including XRD, FT-IR, and UV-vis confirmed the formation of pure crystalline ZSM-5 zeolites and the incorporation of Co2+ ions into the zeolites' framework. The synthesized Na[Co]ZSM-5 zeolites showed comparable specific surface areas to aluminosilicate ZSM-5 zeolites, and demonstrated CO2 adsorption capacities of approximately 2.19 and 5.33 mmol g(-1) at 298 K and 1 bar for samples prepared at pH = 9.5 and 10.5, respectively.

Summary: This study investigates the adaptable nature of metal cations during hydrothermal synthesis by synthesizing porous materials without organic structure-directing agents. The results show that phillipsite is crystallized selectively in the presence of sodium and potassium, while partial substitution of sodium and potassium with calcium results in the co-precipitation of tobermorite phases. Exclusive tobermorite precipitation is observed when only calcium is used. These findings demonstrate the important role of metal cations in crystallization processes and their ability to vary framework topology in porous materials.

Summary: A highly a-axis-oriented nanosheet zeolite with great industrial applications potential was synthesized using ionic liquid molecules and layered silicate sources. The resulting a-oriented ZSM-5 showed enhanced propylene selectivity and longer lifetime in the methanol-to-propylene reaction compared to bulky crystals. This research provides a versatile protocol for designing and synthesizing shape-selective zeolite catalysts with promising applications.

Summary: Organic structure-directing agent-free steam-assisted conversion and Cs+ ion exchange were used to transform faujasite(FAU)-type zeolite to the Cs+-type chabazite/phillipsite (CHA/PHI) composite zeolite. The Cs+-type CHA/PHI zeolite exhibited gate-opening CO2 adsorption behavior and good thermal stability compared to pure PHI-type zeolite. Mechanism for the gate-opening adsorption on CHA/PHI zeolite was elucidated through in situ powder X-ray diffraction (PXRD) and Fourier-transform infrared spectra of CO2 adsorption. The Cs+-type CHA/PHI zeolite showed high CO2/N-2 separation coefficient and selective CO2 capture ability.

Summary: The study focuses on the synthesis of heparin carbon dots (HCDs) for the efficient delivery of the natural anticancer compound baicalin (BA). The surface passivation of HCDs with polyethylenimine (PEI) improves their fluorescence yield. The sustained release of BA in acidic conditions and enhanced anticancer activity of BA-loaded HCDs demonstrate the potential of this nanotheranostic agent for cancer treatment. Flow cytometry analysis and bioimaging studies confirm the effectiveness of BA-loaded HCDs in arresting cell cycle and penetrating cells.

Summary: The aim of this research is to evaluate the adsorption isotherms and kinetics of CO2 on zeolite ZSM-5. The Langmuir model provided the best fit for CO2 adsorption, indicating that it is a spontaneous and exothermic process. The kinetics of CO2 adsorption on the adsorbent were found to be influenced by temperature and pressure. The results can be utilized in CO2 separation and adsorption system performance evaluation.

Summary: A series of Ni-based catalysts supported on ZSM-5 with different morphologies were synthesized and characterized. In-situ DRIFTS was performed to investigate the intermediates of the CO2 methanation reaction. It was found that the catalyst supported on short b-axis ZSM-5 exhibited higher activity, attributed to its unique morphology with large external surface area. Furthermore, La-doped catalyst showed enhanced low-temperature activity and CH4 selectivity. The catalyst with both short b-axis ZSM-5 support and La2O3 modification displayed the optimum catalytic performance.

Summary: This study attempts to rationalize the role of aluminum as a structure directing agent in the synthesis of zeolites using computational chemistry and based on the criteria of energetic stability using both force field and periodic DFT methods. By selecting certain cases, comparing the relative stability of different zeolite phases synthesized under the same organic structure directing agent (OSDA) with and without aluminum, it helps to explain how aluminum contributes to the relative stability of the different competing zeolite phases considered.

Summary: High-quality ZSM-5 zeolite membranes were successfully synthesized by manipulating the microstructure of the zeolite layer, resulting in high selectivity without sacrificing permeance. The method effectively eliminated defects/microcracks in the seed layer and achieved excellent separation performance by filling them with smaller seeds.
