The beta function measurement is used to detect the shift in the betatron tune as the strength of an individual quadrupole magnet is varied, A GUI (graphic user interface) tool for the beta function measurement is developed using the MATLAB program language in the Linux environment, which facilitates the commissioning of the Shanghai Synchrotron Radiation Facility (SSRF) storage ring. In this paper, we describe the design of the application and give some measuring results and discussions about the definition of the measurement. The program has been optimized to solve some restrictions of the AT tracking code. After the correction with LOCO (linear optics from closed orbits), the horizontal and the vertical root mean square values (rms values) can be reduced to 0.12 and 0.10.

In this study, scientists developed a user-friendly software tool (GUI) for a specific particle accelerator (SSRF storage ring) to measure the beta function (a key parameter). This tool, built using MATLAB, helps fine-tune the accelerator's performance during commissioning. The software addresses li...

Intra-beam scattering and beam lifetime in a candidate lattice of the soft X-ray diffraction-limited storage ring for the upgraded SSRF

Summary: New-generation synchrotron light sources aim to provide brighter radiation by reducing beam emittance, but intra-beam scattering and Touschek scattering are significant challenges. The study on the Shanghai Synchrotron Radiation Facility Upgrade focused on determining optimal machine configurations and parameters for achieving acceptable beam lifetime.

Design and commissioning of the new SSRF storage ring lattice with asymmetric optics

Summary: The lattice upgrade of the Shanghai Synchrotron Radiation Facility (SSRF) involved replacing bending magnets, constructing two DMB systems, and installing a superconducting wiggler. The symmetry of the storage ring was destroyed, necessitating modifications to the global optics. The lattice design matched the new elements and achieved sufficient dynamic aperture and energy acceptance through elaborate design and optimization.

Summary: In this study, an ID orbit feedforward compensation system based on a response matrix using corrector coils was developed, and it was successfully applied to all commissioned IDs in the SSRF storage ring, achieving effective orbit distortion compensation. Optical and coupling feedforward systems were also developed, further optimizing the system performance through the installation of quadrupole and skew quadrupole magnets.

Summary: This paper presents the impact of active insertion devices (ID) on the beam emittance and energy spread in future synchrotron light sources. The magnetic gap data of Shanghai Synchrotron Radiation Facility (SSRF) was used to evaluate the emittance variation in an 864mRing. A novel compensation method using two compensation wigglers was developed to improve both the beam emittance and energy spread stability, resulting in enhanced brightness stability during operation.
