Summary: A durable flame retardant fiber (VF/PR-DPCP) was successfully developed in this study by wet spinning through blending self-made flame retardant (PR-DPCP) and viscose slurry. The fiber exhibited high residual amount and flame retardancy at high temperatures, and its performance was almost unaffected after washing.

Summary: Surface modification of cellulose nanocrystal (CNC) was carried out to prepare flame retardant CNC@DPP@Zn, which was then added into epoxy resins (EP). The addition of CNC@DPP@Zn significantly reduced the peak heat release rate (pHRR) and total smoke production (TSP) of the composites.

Summary: The flame retardancy of ABS was greatly enhanced by a highly efficient intumescent flame retardant coating, which improved the oxygen index value, UL-94 rating, and reduced the heat release rate. The flame retardant coating showed synergistic flame retardancy in both gas phase and condensed phase, while also protecting the intrinsic mechanical properties of ABS.

Summary: This review summarizes the flame retardants applied in PVA and their influence on the flammability and mechanical properties of PVA materials. Different flame retardant additives and their application technologies for various PVA products, such as films, aerogel, fibers, foams, and bulk composites, are presented. Films dominate the research of flame retardant PVA materials, and the fire performance and flame retardant mechanism are compared and discussed. Additionally, the role of PVA as an assistant agent in some polymeric flame-retardant formulations is also discussed and reviewed.

Summary: This study focuses on the thermal decomposition behaviors of EP/15%APP-Cu2O and found that it has better flame retardant properties compared to EP/15%APP. The addition of APP or APP-Cu2O enhances the thermal degradation activation energies of EP, contributing to the protective effect of char formation. Incorporation of 3 wt% Cu2O significantly decreases the thermal degradation activation energies at the early decomposition stage of EP, potentially contributing to intumescent char formation and improving fire safety.

Summary: The study synthesized a polyvinyl alcohol/ammonium phosphate flame retardant (PVAAP) for cotton fabrics, which showed good flame retardant performance and durability. The treated cotton fabric exhibited lower combustion rate and total heat release compared to the untreated fabric, and altered the thermal decomposition pathway.

Summary: The alloying synergistic flame retardant effect of using PEI and ADP for PA6 was investigated, which can provide PA6 composites with excellent mechanical properties and flame retardancy simultaneously. Adding PEI with PA6 can form PEI-PA6 alloy with nice homogeneous phase, which endows PA6 composites with excellent mechanical properties. The addition of ADP can increase the LOI value and flame retardant rating, reduce the HRR and THR, and increase the char residue rate, showing an excellent flame retardant synergistic effect. ADP works together with PEI to increase the quenching effect in the gas phase and promote thermal stability, while also increasing the char yield in the condensed phase. The alloying flame retardant method using ADP/PEI-PA6 can endow PA6 with better flame retardancy and more excellent mechanical properties.
