Summary: A recent study has demonstrated the photo-induced CO-releasing capabilities of the complex Re1Pc, which is composed of a [Re(CO)(3)](+) unit and a phthalocyanine ligand. The complex exhibited efficient spin-orbit coupling and large Franck-Condon factors, resulting in short excited-state lifetimes and ultrafast intersystem crossing. This research provides promising insights into the development of red-light-driven photoCORMs for biomedical applications.

Summary: The study reveals that the TAP ligand enhances the stability and tolerance of Re(2)TAP towards polar solvents, while also resulting in positive shifts in oxidation and reduction potentials for the ReTAP complexes. The unique broad Q bands in Re(1)TAP and Re(2)TAP are attributed to the lowered pi orbital energy in the TAP complexes, which contribute to the admixture of pi-pi* and metal-to-ligand charge transfer characters.

Summary: The reactions of [Re(N-N)(CO)(3)(PMe3)]OTf compounds with tBuLi and LiHBEt3 exhibit different site-selectivity depending on both chelate and nucleophile. Hydride addition to bipy and phen derivatives lead to distinct outcomes, resulting in the formation of Re-I complexes containing several C(sp(3)) centers.

Summary: Re(I) tricarbonyl complexes were synthesized using bi- and tridentate ligands equipped with hexahydro-pyrimidopyrimidine (hpp) units attached to pyridine or pyrazine rings. The structures were characterized through various analyses and found to exhibit emission properties at low temperatures, mainly due to charge transfer between the metal and ligand.

Summary: This study presents a strategy to eliminate the need for an exogenous base in catalytic reactions by using non-innocent electrophiles (NIE) equipped with a masked base that is released during the reaction. The universal applicability of this strategy was demonstrated by converting multiple base-dependent reactions into base-free homogeneous processes, and the advantageous features of NIEs were showcased in various applications.

Summary: In the context of copper-catalyzed nitrene transfer to olefins, this study challenges the general assumption that the X ligand is displaced from the coordination sphere. Through experiments with well-defined copper(I) complexes, it is demonstrated that the catalytic and mechanistic behavior depends on the presence or absence of the chloride ligand bonded to the metal center, with different turnover-limiting steps.

Summary: The exceptionally electron-rich nearly trigonal-planar tricyanidometalate anions [Fe(CN)(3)](7-) and [Ru(CN)(3)](7-) were stabilized in LiSr3[Fe(CN)(3)] and AE(3.5)[M(CN)(3)] (AE=Sr, Ba; M=Fe, Ru), representing the first examples of group 8 elements with the oxidation state of -IV. Microcrystalline powders were obtained by a solid-state route, while single crystals were obtained from alkali metal flux. X-ray diffraction, IR and Raman spectroscopy revealed unique molecular structures and properties of these compounds, providing new insights into their behavior.

Summary: This study investigates the impact of polyethyleneimine (PEI) as a ligand on the structure and properties of immobilized transition metals hexacyanoferrates (HCFs) in a cross-linked PEI matrix. Cu(II), Zn(II), and Fe(III) HCFs were synthesized via ion-exchange reactions and their properties were compared to crystalline HCF analogs using FT-IR, Mossbauer, and UV-Vis spectroscopy. The results confirm that PEI can fully reduce Fe(III) to Fe(II) and the pH during synthesis influences the type of materials formed. The obtained hybrids show different magnetic properties compared to crystalline HCFs.

Summary: Using a chelating C,C'-bis(silylenyl)-ortho-dicarborane ligand, a monoatomic zero-valent Ge complex was synthesized, showing different reactivities towards reductants and oxidants due to the redox non-innocent nature of the carborane scaffold. The reduction and oxidation of the Ge complex resulted in the formation of dianionic or dicationic bis(silylene)-supported Ge complexes with distinct properties.

Summary: Exploring intramolecular H-bonding as a potential strategy to stabilize diazene intermediates, the study used a series of [(xHet)TpCu](2)(mu-N2H2) complexes, revealing marked changes in spectroscopy due to the presence of hydrogen bonding. DFT studies identified metal-assisted concerted dual H-atom transfer as a thermodynamically favorable pathway for N-2/N2H2 interconversion.

Summary: This study investigates the solid-gas reactions and in situ powder X-ray diffraction investigations of trinuclear silver complexes supported by highly fluorinated pyrazolates. It reveals that these complexes undergo intricate ethylene-triggered structural transformations, producing dinuclear silver-ethylene adducts. The reactions are reversible, producing precursor trimers with the loss of ethylene.

Summary: Divalent carbon(0) species, carbones, with two lone pairs of electrons have been prepared in this study. The first known stable and isolable free bis-(carbone) pincer framework was synthesized, which serves as an effective scaffold for forming monometallic and trinuclear heterometallic complexes. Quantum-theoretical analyses showed that the stability of these complexes is mainly attributed to the four lone pairs of electrons within the bis-(carbone) framework, rather than metal-metal interactions.

Summary: The successful preparation of bottleable phosphine-stabilized dicarbon (PDC) molecules, which possess strong sigma-donor and weak pi-acceptor properties, is reported in this study. Steric analysis reveals similar steric volume to conventional IMes carbene, but the PDCs show dynamic steric flexibility depending on the metal complexes and catalytic reaction environment. The catalytic utility of the PDC framework is demonstrated through Suzuki-Miyaura cross-coupling and reductive coupling reaction of aldehyde and alkyne, with an important secondary interaction between PDC and metal complexes playing a critical role.

Summary: This study presents a Ni-catalyzed heteroarene C-H/arenol C-OH coupling reaction without the need for strong Lewis-acid additive and low atom-economy protecting reagent. A range of arenols and heteroarenes can be effectively catalyzed using an in-situ activating reagent of pivalic anhydride. Mechanistic studies and identification of intermediates have been conducted to understand the nature of the catalytic reactions.

Summary: In this study, a carbone-transfer agent Ag-I complex of a bis(carbone) pincer ligand was synthesized, which eliminated the requirement for isolating the free ligand. The complex was efficiently used to transfer the ligand to other transition metals. This approach has potential for isolating metal complexes of carbone ligands, which has been challenging due to the reactivity and sensitivity of free carbones.
