Summary: Core-shell Ge/GeSn nanowires offer a pathway to dislocation-free single crystal germanium-tin alloys with desirable light emission properties during GeSn shell growth. However, the uniformity of tin incorporation may be limited by the balance between Sn precursor flux and available surfaces for GeSn nucleation and growth. Insufficient Sn precursor delivery or nanowire surface area can result in defect formation during GeSn shell growth.

Summary: The combination of a Ti-salen complex with AgBArF shows unique hard/soft heterobimetallic cooperativity in lactide ring-opening polymerisation with significant activity at room temperature. Studies highlight the role of cation-pi interactions in the formation of heterobimetallic species and provide insights into the role of both metals in ROP.

Summary: In recent years, there have been numerous reports on bimetallic osmium-tin and osmium-germanium carbonyl complexes of different nuclearity. This review summarizes the latest studies on the synthesis and characterization of these carbonyl complexes, as well as some of their reactivities. Despite the lack of research on their applications, the important features of their formation, structure, and bonding are described.

Summary: This article describes the synthesis of an enantiomeric pair of 3d-3d heterometallic clusters in an aqueous solution without heating. The crystal structures reveal a five-layered core structure with a slightly distorted tetradecahedron composed of Mn and Cu ions. Magnetic measurements show that these clusters exhibit slow relaxation of their magnetization vectors.

Summary: Two Al7Ni2 heterometallic clusters with different peripheral alkoxide ligands were successfully synthesized through a heterometal substitution strategy. Single crystal structure analysis showed that they were isostructural with slight differences in OH and guest numbers. The benzyl alkoxides protected Al7Ni2 cluster compound was found to be more stable in H2O and various organic solvents compared to the ethoxides coordinated one. Moreover, it exhibited higher activity as a reliable catalyst in aldol condensation reactions. This work provides a new method for the design of stable crystalline heterometallic aluminum oxo compounds and reveals their excellent catalysis performance.

Summary: A SiGeSn/GeSn/SiGeSn single quantum well structure was prepared and characterized in this work. The GeSn well layer of the sample was thicker, reaching 22nm, compared to the previously reported 9nm well configuration. This thicker well layer resulted in three improvements: (i) a lowered ground energy level in the Gamma valley, providing more bandgap directness; (ii) an increased carrier density in the well; and (iii) improved carrier collection due to increased barrier height. Consequently, significantly enhanced emission from the quantum well was observed. The strong photoluminescence signal allowed for the estimation of quantum efficiency (QE), which was unattainable in previous studies. Using pumping-power-dependent photoluminescence spectra at 20K, the peak spontaneous QE and external QE were measured as 37.9% and 1.45%, respectively.

Summary: ITO, ZTO, AZO, and Ag are commonly used in multilayer thin films of transparent conducting oxide (TCO)/metal/TCO electrodes, with critical knowledge of surface free energy (SFE) being important for designing desirable TCO-based sandwich structures. Contact angle measurements of different liquids were used to evaluate the wettability properties of TCO, Ag interlayer, and TCO/Ag/TCO. The results showed that the SFE components varied depending on the TCO type, the total SFE values of TCO/Ag/TCO films were lower than TCO films, and AZO/Ag adhesion was stronger than other TCO/Ag structures.

Summary: Diazulenylmethyl cations bridged with a germanium and tin moiety were synthesized, and the properties of these cations were affected by the nature of these elements. Aggregated cations exhibit absorption bands in the near-infrared region, which are slightly blue-shifted compared to silicon-bridged congeners.

Summary: The study reports the first heterobimetallic LA ROP catalysts featuring only divalent metals, with Mg/Zn and Ca/Zn complexes showing high activity in LA and ε-CL ROP, and the Ca/Zn complex exhibiting the highest activity. The enhanced activity is attributed to Lewis acidic metals enhancing monomer coordination.

Summary: Recently, kesterite (CZTS) has been considered as a promising alternative material for low-cost thin film solar cells due to its high absorption coefficient, direct band gap, natural abundance, and low toxicity. However, the efficiency of CZTS solar cells is still relatively low compared to silicon, which hinders its commercialization. Therefore, developing new materials with improved optical and photovoltaic properties is encouraged.

Summary: Heterometallic Ru-Pt and Zn-Pt complexes were prepared by self-assembly, exhibiting different absorption and emission characteristics. Ru-Pt complexes showed enhanced emission intensity while Zn-Pt complexes had decreased emission compared to their mononuclear precursors. Additionally, both Ru-Pt and Zn-Pt complexes demonstrated high two-photon absorption cross sections.
