A phase-transfer reaction allows a facile synthesis of uniform In-0 particles, 10-15 nm in size. This two-step synthesis also results in a facile separation of as-prepared In-0 as well as a sufficient colloidal and chemical stabilization of the less-noble metal.

Shear turbulence controllable synthesis of aggregated nano-particles using a swirling vortex flow reactor assisted by ultrasound irradiation

Summary: The synthesis of nano-sized particles using a swirling vortex flow reactor involves controlled mass transfer through turbulent shear. Turbulence characteristics impact the particle morphology, chemical reactions, and mass transfer performance, with the application of ultrasound further enhancing mass transfer by intensifying local turbulent shear. The correlation between mass transfer and turbulence shear in the synthesis process of aggregated nano-particles in swirling vortex reactor using ultrasound has been clearly indicated through numerical simulations and experiments.

A liquid approach for the synthesis of M phase VO2 nanocrystals: Facile synthesis, characterization and reaction mechanism

Summary: Vanadium dioxide, with its special reversible metal-insulator transition, is considered a promising material in many fields. This report presents a new liquid-phase synthesis method for VO2(M) nanoparticles, and characterizes the morphology and phase transition temperature of the prepared VO2(M) through various techniques. The reaction route and mechanism were also established.

Phase Engineering of Metastable Transition Metal Dichalcogenides via Ionic Liquid Assisted Synthesis

Summary: In this study, a facile and large-scale synthesis of high-concentration 1T-TMDs using an ionic liquid assisted hydrothermal strategy was reported. It was found that the ionic liquid adsorbs on the surface of 1T-MoS2, inducing the formation of 1T-MoS2 through steric hindrance, pi-pi stacking, and hydrogen bonds. The obtained MoS2-IL showed high stability for 180 days at room temperature and exhibited excellent HER performance in acid conditions.

Synthesis of LiV3O8 by an Ultrasound-Assisted Rheological Phase Reaction Method for Aqueous Supercapacitor Application

Summary: Phase pure lithium trivanadate (LiV3O8) was synthesized by an ultrasound-assisted rheological phase reaction method for aqueous supercapacitor applications. The effects of ultrasound and calcination on the structural and morphological features of the synthesized samples were characterized. The sample synthesized with 10 hours of ultrasound exposure showed improved lithium (Li+) ion movement and enhanced electrochemical performance.

Stereoconvergent Synthesis of Cyclopentenyl Nucleosides by Palladium-Assisted Allylic Reaction

Summary: The Tsuji-Trost reaction of cyclopentenyl carbonates was investigated for the stereoconvergent synthesis of cyclopentenyl nucleosides. Changes in catalyst amount were found to selectively lead to the synthesis of cis configured cyclopentenyl N9-linked purine nucleosides, regardless of the relative configuration of the starting substrates. DFT studies provided insights into the low activation energy associated with the crucial inversion step.

Formation of multishell Au@Ag@Pt nanoparticles by coreduction method: a microscopic study

Summary: The study synthesized metallic nanoparticles of Ag-Pt double-shell on Au-core with a hollow-granular shell structure by a coreduction method. The nanostructures were examined in detail at different reduction reaction periods, revealing the competitive role of each reduction reaction and the successful increase in Pt surface area. The coreduction method contributed to enhancing the catalytic applications of the nanoparticles.

Enhancing the electrocatalytic properties of LaMnO3 by tuning surface oxygen deficiency through salt assisted combustion synthesis

Summary: In this study, LaMnO3 perovskite catalyst was synthesized using salt assisted combustion synthesis to control agglomeration and enhance oxygen defects, thereby improving electrochemical properties. LaMnO3-SA showed superior characteristics in oxygen electrocatalysis, displaying enhanced bifunctionality towards oxygen reduction reaction and oxygen evolution reaction. Through the introduction of an inert salt during synthesis, active sites accessible for oxygen electrocatalysis in solution combustion synthesis can be enhanced.

Abundant Dislocation Layered Double Hydroxides Synthesis by Molten Salt with Bound Water Boosting Oxygen Evolution

Summary: Optimizing the adsorption free energy and promoting the active phase transition are significant for enhancing the oxygen evolution reaction (OER) activity. This study successfully achieved these goals by modulating the electronic structure and crystal configuration, as well as introducing dislocations through the molten salt with the bound water method. The resulting dislocation layered double hydroxides (D-NiFe LDH) exhibited outstanding OER activity and stability.
