Summary: The aim of this paper is to analyze the impact of the recent Russia-Ukraine war on the volatility dynamics of the natural gas market. The study uses the daily return data of the S&P GSCI natural gas index and applies the Volatility Ratio to assess the behavior of the volatility-of-volatility in different time horizons. The empirical findings reveal a rapid decrease in the volatility-of-volatility before the war and a longer period of decrease in the S&P GSCI natural gas index. The study also suggests that periods of uncertainties trigger investors' intent to make informed decisions and formulate superior strategies.

Summary: In this study, a Long Time-of-Flight Chemical Ionization Mass Spectrometry (LToF-CIMS) combined with a Filter Inlet for Gases and AEROsols (FIGAERO) was used to analyze ambient particulate samples collected in Shanghai in the summer of 2021. The molecular formulas and thermograms of organic compounds were investigated, and the saturation vapor pressures of low- and semivolatile components of ambient organic aerosols were estimated. A hierarchical cluster analysis and classification were conducted to classify all compounds into multiple groups based on similarity calculation. Parametrizations between volatility and elemental composition were derived for each group, and relationships between the parameters and the mean O:C were established to achieve a volatility-molecular formula parametrization with the O:C as a key input. The study showed a better predictive performance for low-volatile organic compounds compared to previous molecular formula-based methods.

Summary: This paper proposes a normal distribution-modeling method based on relative volatility to address the stochastic fluctuations in wind speed and wind power curve modeling. The method extracts wind-speed variation patterns from onsite SCADA data and establishes a wind-power volatility-curve model. The correlation between wind-speed relative volatility and power relative volatility is analyzed, providing a basis for evaluating the efficiency of wind turbines.

Summary: The pilot-scale test demonstrated that an appropriate sludge water reflux ratio can ensure the safety of effluent while enhancing the coagulation effect. Additionally, sludge water reflux can increase the compactness of floc and improve the treatment efficiency of low-temperature low-turbidity water.

Summary: This study analyzes the impact of climate uncertainty on carbon emissions prices using novel measures of uncertainty. The results show that physical climate risks play a dominant role in price fluctuations. Additionally, the study provides interesting hedging strategies for achieving decarbonization goals in investment positions.

Summary: This study reveals that high relative humidity enhances the contribution of SO2 to the formation of OSs, particularly HOOSs, during monoterpene ozonolysis in the atmosphere. The interaction between SO2 and ROOHs under high humidity conditions promotes the formation of HOOSs, leading to changes in SOA yield. Additionally, variations in particle acidity and liquid water content also impact SOA formation.

Summary: This paper presents a model to calculate the long-term compressive strength of SAP-modified concrete compared to concrete without SAP. The model takes into account the influence of paste strength and SAP void content. Results show that the addition of internal curing water can enhance the strength of concrete, but there exists a critical water-to-binder ratio above which the addition of water reduces strength. The model is validated by experimental results and is applicable to various types of concrete.

Summary: This study found that the steady-state ratio between the prices of two types of timber depends on their relative quality and ease of substitution in production. The variability of relative input prices is related to shocks in tree growth and demand for the output, and is negatively correlated with ease of substitution.

Summary: Inverse gravity moment (IGM) is a text classification weighting scheme that focuses on distinguishing terms. However, it fails to address the issue of class imbalance in text classification, where minority classes are often neglected. We propose a method using relative imbalance ratio (RIR) to amplify the scores of terms from minority classes in IGM. Experimental results demonstrate that our method outperforms the original IGM, improved IGM, and other state-of-the-art term weighting schemes in terms of f1-macro results without compromising f1-micro.

Summary: This paper proposes a neighborhood rough set based approach for outlier detection, which can handle heterogeneous data and reduce hyper-parameters. It introduces a relative granular ratio factor to measure the size of a neighborhood and defines a granule-based majority set to capture the majority of objects. An outlier factor based on the feature of a negative region is determined to measure the difference between outliers and the majority set. The proposed approach, called RNRD-based outlier detection (RNROD), is evaluated on sixteen heterogeneous datasets and outperforms seven existing detection algorithms.

Summary: By controlling the parameters and analyzing the test results, it can be determined that within a certain range, the lower the dosage, the better the effect; under conditions of low concentration sludge water reuse, the effect is even better; reasonable control of the reflux parameters can prevent significant increase of water quality indicators in the effluent of the sedimentation basin, making the risk controllable.

Summary: The study reported direct methanation of CO2 over ceria- and alumina-supported nickel catalysts in the feed stream containing methane and traces of H2S. The results showed that ceria-supported nickel catalyst exhibited higher conversion at 350 degrees Celsius, while the introduction of trace amounts of H2S led to rapid decrease in CO2 conversion and CH4 selectivity.

Summary: The catalytic combustion of hydrogen and ammonia-containing off-gas surrogate from an ammonia solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC) was studied. The results showed that the tested catalysts were able to completely convert hydrogen and ammonia present in the off-gas. The formation of nitrogen oxides (NOx) increased with reaction temperature and stagnated at temperatures of 600 degrees C and higher.

Summary: The modeling of transfer processes was conducted to generalize and interpret experimental data on heat transfer. A two-dimensional model based on a homogeneous mixture model was developed for boiling water flow in a microchannel, with a new evaporation submodel. The simulation successfully predicted the distribution of velocity, void fraction, and temperature profiles in the microchannel, with the predicted temperature profile consistent with experimental literature data.
