A tris(2,20-bipyridine)cobalt(II)/(III) based polymer gel electrolyte has been successfully applied in conjunction with an organic carbazole dye in the construction of stable dye-sensitized solar cells with an energy conversion efficiencies of 8.7% and 10% at 1 sun and 0.1 sun light intensity.
