Total synthesis of largamide H has been completed, utilising the oxidative elimination reaction of enantiomerically pure 2-amino3-(phenylselenyl) butanoic acid residues to stereospecifically install both (Z)- and (E)-2,3-dehydro-2-aminobutanoic moieties.
