Summary: This study computationally investigates the conductivity of four isostructural compounds with different Se contents, and reveals the parameters that define their conductivity in stable organic radical materials. The results provide insights into the influence of Se content on the conductivity and highlight the importance of considering multiple parameters in understanding the trends in conductivity.

Summary: We developed a continuous flow method for the process intensification of ProDOT monomers, a commercially important compound. By optimizing each synthetic step and using GC-MS analysis, we achieved quantitative conversion and completed the whole process in 65 minutes, compared to several days using traditional batch processes. We demonstrated that the critical step of Williamson etherification could be intensified to significantly higher space-time yield via continuous flow. Our findings have the potential to revolutionize the synthesis of ProDOT-based monomers.

Summary: In this study, several 2,7-dialkoxy-substituted naphthalene-1,8-peri-diselenides were synthesized and tested for their catalytic antioxidant activity. Acidic conditions increased the catalytic activity, while basic conditions suppressed it. The highest activity was observed with a 2,7-bis(triethyleneglycol) derivative. Further investigation revealed that a thiol-dependent single electron transfer reaction occurred under the conditions of the assay, which could be reversed by the addition of triethylamine.

Summary: Successful synthesis and characterization of phenyl silicates bearing substituted catecholate ligands have been achieved, with their reactivity explored. It was found that substitution of the catecholate moiety, notably with the 4-cyanocatecholate ligand, allows for the generation and trapping of phenyl radicals. Computational studies provided a rationale for these findings.

Summary: Thiols easily react with [1.1.1]propellane to give sulfur-substituted bicydo[1.1.1]pentanes in radical reactions. However, this reactivity is not observed in the case of heterocyclic thiols. In this study, electrophilic activation of [1.1.1]propellane was used to promote its iodo-sulfenylation with 10 classes of heterocyclic thiols in protocols that can be conducted on a multigram scale without exclusion of air or moisture.

Summary: A novel alkoxycarbonyl-radical-triggered cascade cyclization of 1,7-enynes, with alkyloxalyl chlorides as the ester units, for the synthesis of benzo[j]phenanthridines is reported. The reaction conditions are compatible with a broad range of alkoxycarbonyl radical sources and enable the installation of an ester group in the polycyclic compound. This radical cascade cyclization reaction exhibits excellent functional group tolerance, mild reaction conditions, and good to excellent yields.

Summary: An alternative disconnection approach using aroyl fluorides as bifunctional reagents for fluoroaroylation of gem-difluoroalkenes through cooperative photoredox and N-heterocyclic carbene (NHC) catalysis is reported. This strategy enables the synthesis of alpha-CF3-substituted ketones efficiently and without the use of expensive or sensitive reagents and the requirement for ketone pre-functionalization. The methodology also allows rapid access to mono- or difluoroalkyl ketones.

Summary: In this study, a visible-light induced multicomponent reaction was investigated for the synthesis of fluorinated secondary amines using aromatic aldehydes, amines, and sodium difluoromethanesulfinate. The protocol provides a convenient pathway for introducing difluoromethyl group into imines generated in situ from the reaction of aldehydes and amines. A diverse range of fluorinated secondary amines were successfully synthesized in yields of 43%-79% at room temperature. Additionally, a plausible mechanism was proposed based on control experiments.

Summary: This study presents the design and synthesis of sulfated disaccharide inhibitors based on IdoA(2S)-GlcNS(6S), which showed potent inhibition of Sulf-2. The results suggest that IdoA(2S)-GlcNS(6S) is the shortest fragment size required for effective inhibition of Sulfs, and a trisulfated disaccharide is identified as the minimal fragment size of heparan sulfate for effective endosulfatase inhibition.

Summary: The self-adaptability of galvanostatic electrolysis was found to be helpful in a multistage chemo- and diastereoselective electrochemically promoted cyclodimerization of chalcones. Through a series of reductive events, densely functionalized cyclopentanes with five contiguous stereocenters were obtained (25 examples, yields up to 95%, dr values up to >20:1). Further experimental and electrochemical investigations indicated the crucial role of dynamic kinetic resolution of the aldol intermediate in the reaction mechanism.

Summary: In this study, the synthesis of functionalized benzo[a]phenazines and indazolo[2,3-a]quinolines was achieved through Rh(III)-catalyzed oxidative annulation of 2-arylquinoxalines and 2-aryl-2H-indazoles with allyl alcohols. The method showed a wide substrate scope, excellent functional group tolerance, good to high yields of annulated products, and the capability for scaled-up synthesis. A tentative mechanism of the annulation reaction was proposed based on a preliminary mechanistic investigation.
