Summary: This work describes a serendipitous self-assembly synthesis of non-symmetrical CNN-platinacycle pincer complexes, with an early formation and detection of hydride species. The synthesis involves a formal C-H bond activation and an earlier C-N bond formation, achieved via C-Br bond excision. Experimental results show that the nature of the Pt(II)-starting material does not significantly affect the reaction pathway, and the best yields are achieved using stoichiometric amounts of K2PtCl4, appropriate Schiff base ligand and aniline at 70 degrees C for three days.

Summary: This study describes straightforward procedures for the synthesis of rhodium(I) kappa Cl- chlorocarbon complexes in solution, enabling the isolation of pure products and crystallographic characterization. The results suggest that oxidative addition of C(sp2)-Cl bonds may occur at higher temperatures, while activation of C(sp3)-Cl bonds may proceed through radical mechanisms.

Summary: A regioselective Heck reaction catalyzed by a P-containing palladacycle was described, which affords 2-aryl-2,5-dihydrofurans and 2-aryl-2,3-dihydrofurans in good yields from 2,3-dihydrofuran with diaryliodonium salts and aryl iodides, respectively. Mechanistic studies and DFT calculations revealed the chemoselectivity and regioselectivity-determining step of this reaction.

Summary: Core-shell Bi-MOF@BiOX hybrids with different halogen ions (X = I, Br and Cl) were synthesized by regulating their concentration during the solvothermal process. The Bi3+ ions played a crucial role in forming an intimate interface between BiOX and Bi-MOF, enhancing the charge and mass transportation. The resulting hierarchical heterostructures exhibited excellent photocatalytic performance in the elimination of solo and mixed pollutants.

Summary: According to the Hume-Rothery rule, anions with a large difference in ionic radii cannot form solid solutions. However, this study demonstrates that Ba2H3X (X = CI, Br, or I) with a special structure can form trihalide solid solutions containing substantial amounts of each halogen. The analysis of synchrotron X-ray diffraction data reveals a significant deviation of the local structure from the average structural model for the solid solutions, which is mainly attributed to the different size variances of X- anions. Furthermore, the study shows that size-flexible H- anions play an important role in the formation of trihalide solid solutions.

Summary: TMSCFX2 (X = Cl, Br; TMS = trimethylsilyl) have been developed as halofluorocarbene precursors for [2+1] cyclopropanation with alkenes, yielding structurally diverse halofluorocyclopropanes in good to excellent yields. It was observed that the reactivity order of the three halofluorocarbene reagents (TMSCF2Br, TMSCFCl2, and TMSCFBr2) in the cyclopropanation reaction with 1,1-diphenylethylene can vary significantly under different reaction conditions.

Summary: We present a comprehensive theory of magnetic phases in twisted bilayer chromium trihalides, showing that a wide range of noncollinear magnetic phases can be stabilized as a function of twist angle and interactions. Our results provide an interpretation for recent observations of noncollinear magnetic phases in twisted bilayer CrI3 and demonstrate the possibility of engineering further nontrivial magnetic ground states in twisted bilayer chromium trihalides.

Summary: This study involves the synthesis of metallacycles by inserting alkynes into Pd-C bonds of ortho-metalated homoveratrylamine and phentermine, which further react with alkenes to form mononuclear complexes. Depending on the type of olefin used, different types of Pd(II) complexes are obtained. When terminal alkenes are used, anti/syn eta(3)-allyl Pd(II) complexes are formed; whereas using 2-norbornene leads to the formation of norbornyl palladium(II) complexes with a 10-membered ring structure.

Summary: A series of bis-cyclometalated Pt(IV) complexes incorporating mesoionic aryl-NHC ligand trz with either 1-phenylpyrazole or 2-arylpyridine ligands are reported, showing phosphorescent emissions in the blue to yellow color range with high quantum yields. The addition of trz ligand leads to lower nonradiative decay rates and higher quantum efficiencies compared to homologous species with two equal 2-arylpyridine ligands. Computational calculations substantiate the effect of the carbene ligand on the energy levels and emissive properties of the complexes.

Summary: This study presents the design and synthesis of sulfated disaccharide inhibitors based on IdoA(2S)-GlcNS(6S), which showed potent inhibition of Sulf-2. The results suggest that IdoA(2S)-GlcNS(6S) is the shortest fragment size required for effective inhibition of Sulfs, and a trisulfated disaccharide is identified as the minimal fragment size of heparan sulfate for effective endosulfatase inhibition.

Summary: The self-adaptability of galvanostatic electrolysis was found to be helpful in a multistage chemo- and diastereoselective electrochemically promoted cyclodimerization of chalcones. Through a series of reductive events, densely functionalized cyclopentanes with five contiguous stereocenters were obtained (25 examples, yields up to 95%, dr values up to >20:1). Further experimental and electrochemical investigations indicated the crucial role of dynamic kinetic resolution of the aldol intermediate in the reaction mechanism.

Summary: In this study, the synthesis of functionalized benzo[a]phenazines and indazolo[2,3-a]quinolines was achieved through Rh(III)-catalyzed oxidative annulation of 2-arylquinoxalines and 2-aryl-2H-indazoles with allyl alcohols. The method showed a wide substrate scope, excellent functional group tolerance, good to high yields of annulated products, and the capability for scaled-up synthesis. A tentative mechanism of the annulation reaction was proposed based on a preliminary mechanistic investigation.
