Summary: This study reveals that Aryl trifluoromethyl diazomethanes can be decomposed to form alpha-CF3 substituted carbene complexes under the effect of certain gold(I) complexes. The bonding situation of these complexes is thoroughly evaluated, showing the influence of the aryl substituent and Au in stabilizing the electrophilic carbene center. Reactivity studies confirm the typical carbene-type behavior for one of the complexes.

Summary: New mononuclear gold(I) complexes based on 1-thiocarbamoyl-3,5-diaryl-pyrazoline ligands were synthesized and characterized. These complexes exhibited higher antitumor activity and selectivity than their respective free ligands, making them promising candidates for the development of new metallodrugs based on gold(I) compounds.

Summary: Diphosphines with azobenzene scaffolds and their corresponding bis-gold chloride complexes were prepared and characterized through photophysical, spectroscopic, and X-ray diffraction studies. DFT calculations provided additional information on their electronic, structural, and spectroscopic properties. Comparative investigations were conducted on compounds with different substitution patterns to analyze the effects on structural and spectroscopic properties.

Summary: The study investigated the kinetics of reactions between [Ni(bipy)(COD)] and various bicyclopropylidene compounds using stopped-flow techniques. Results supported an associative mechanism and allowed for a more general reaction pathway to be postulated. The structurally characterized nickel(0) and copper(I) complexes exhibited reactivity towards dioxygen, and comparisons were made with similar olefinic complexes in the literature.

Summary: The crystal and molecular structures of four (triphenylphosphine)-gold(I) complexes synthesized from different thiols have been determined. The thiolate complexes exhibit similar Au-S-C angles but different Au-S-C-O/S torsional angles. All the complexes feature a nearly linear two-coordinate gold(I) metal center.

Summary: The interionic structure in solution of a series of [LAu(mu-H)(2)WCp2][BF4] ion pairs has been studied using heteronuclear NOE and diffusion NMR. Selective ion pairing based on specific metallocene-anion interactions has been observed for all species. The role of the ancillary ligand L in dictating the availability of secondary ion pair structures is minimal, mainly due to steric factors. DFT calculations have shown that the tungstenocene fragment acts as the preferential anion anchoring point. However, ion association in CD2Cl2 is not enhanced and the typical aggregation behavior of linear Au(I) ion pairs is observed.

Summary: A novel synthetic approach was used to synthesize a heterobimetallic cluster, and its structure was confirmed through experiments. It was found that Au(i) preferred to bind with the C-carbene donor. In addition, metal-metal interactions in the clusters were further investigated using computational methods, and one of the clusters was found to be more aromatic.

Summary: The presence of cationic gold species is crucial for the CO oxidation over non-reducible metal oxide-supported gold catalysts, and the deactivation of such catalysts is mainly due to the sintering of Au nanoparticles and the reduction of cationic Au species. In this study, we report the high catalytic stability of cationic Au species confined in a mordenite-like zeolite matrix prepared by a one-pot synthesis method for CO oxidation. The sample with the lowest Au loading (0.32 wt%) exhibited the highest catalytic performance and stability during CO oxidation.

Summary: A new method for controlling the selectivity of aryl methyl ether reactions was discovered in this study, by using the catalyst [Pd(PCy3)(2)] to achieve chemoselective functionalisation of the sp(2) C-O bond. Experimental evidence supports a catalytic pathway involving ligand-assisted oxidative addition of the sp(2) C-O bond to a Pd-Al intermetallic complex.

Summary: This study presents the design and synthesis of sulfated disaccharide inhibitors based on IdoA(2S)-GlcNS(6S), which showed potent inhibition of Sulf-2. The results suggest that IdoA(2S)-GlcNS(6S) is the shortest fragment size required for effective inhibition of Sulfs, and a trisulfated disaccharide is identified as the minimal fragment size of heparan sulfate for effective endosulfatase inhibition.

Summary: The self-adaptability of galvanostatic electrolysis was found to be helpful in a multistage chemo- and diastereoselective electrochemically promoted cyclodimerization of chalcones. Through a series of reductive events, densely functionalized cyclopentanes with five contiguous stereocenters were obtained (25 examples, yields up to 95%, dr values up to >20:1). Further experimental and electrochemical investigations indicated the crucial role of dynamic kinetic resolution of the aldol intermediate in the reaction mechanism.

Summary: In this study, the synthesis of functionalized benzo[a]phenazines and indazolo[2,3-a]quinolines was achieved through Rh(III)-catalyzed oxidative annulation of 2-arylquinoxalines and 2-aryl-2H-indazoles with allyl alcohols. The method showed a wide substrate scope, excellent functional group tolerance, good to high yields of annulated products, and the capability for scaled-up synthesis. A tentative mechanism of the annulation reaction was proposed based on a preliminary mechanistic investigation.
