The forever waste

While the volume of nuclear waste being generated is on the rise, no permanent solution for the disposal of this waste has been proposed by governments. The Department of Energy plans to build a nuclear waste repository at Yucca Mountain in Nevada. However, the proposal lacks any measures to protect humans from exposure to the waste. The government is arguing that such a plan for the disposal will involve the expenditure of huge sums and such a disposal should be handled by the future generations, which might have better means for disposal.
