Summary: This study demonstrates the chemoenzymatic synthesis of a genetically-encoded liquid glycan array (LiGA) of complex type N-glycans on phage. The LiGA facilitates rigorous characterization of N-glycan structure and density using MALDI-TOF MS, and enables the identification of optimal structure/density combinations for recognition by glycan-binding proteins (GBPs). Injection of the LiGA into mice also helps identify glycoconjugates with structures and avidity necessary for enrichment in specific organs.

Summary: Twenty new triethanolammonium amino acid salts (TEA AA) were synthesized and their physicochemical properties were investigated. These salts showed a range of melting points and glass transition temperatures, indicating their suitability as amino acid ionic liquids (AAILs). The TEA AA salts were tested as additives for proteolytic enzymes, showing inhibitory effects with different mechanisms depending on the enzyme and salt used. The results suggest that these TEA AA salts have potential as enzyme-controlling agents in industrial processes.

Summary: In this study, chitin benzoate stearates with thermoplasticity were synthesized through acylation reaction in an ionic liquid. The introduction of benzoyl and stearoyl groups resulted in the formation of products with regular crystalline structures, which exhibited melting points and could be processed into films during melt-pressing.

Summary: This study investigates the physicochemical properties of a series of cation-fluorinated ionic liquids and provides experimental evidence for nanosegregation and triphilicity in these liquids. The introduction of fluoroalkyl chains enhances hydrogen bond interactions between anions and cations and leads to structural rearrangements. The study also demonstrates the use of a group contribution method to predict the density of the liquids.

Summary: The chemical industry needs environmentally friendly processes, as acid-catalysed processes may cause environmental problems. The search for sustainable alternatives to conventional acids is urgent. Metal-containing ionic liquids have been of great interest to scientists due to their high Lewis acidity, which depends on the composition of the ionic liquid and the specific content of metal salt. These compounds are widely used as catalysts, co-catalysts, or reaction media in various fields of chemistry, particularly in organic chemistry. Gallium(III)- and indium(III)-containing ionic liquids effectively enhance the activity of metal salts and are easier to handle. This review emphasizes the wide range of applications and the potential of metal-containing ionic liquids, with a focus on Ga(III) and In(III), which can guide further research and synthesis of new compounds in this group.

Summary: This article presents the synthesis and characterization of the pseudo-ternary tin(II) halide [BMPyr]2[SnCl4] by simply mixing the starting materials [BMPyr]Cl and SnCl2 at room temperature. The compound exhibits bright Sn(II)-based emission of deep-red light with a quantum yield of 88±3% after optimized synthesis. Characterization is performed using X-ray structure analysis, infrared, and fluorescence spectroscopy, and exemplary fluorescent thin films are achieved by solvent processing.

Summary: Organic salts based on different choline derivative cations and metal ions were immobilized in mesoporous silica nanoparticles through a two-step synthetic method, characterized using various techniques and evaluated for cytotoxicity in different cell lines. The characterization data confirmed successful functionalization and provided insights into the materials' properties, while the cytotoxicity results revealed differences between the metal organic salts and their immobilized analogues.

Summary: This study highlights the challenges in identifying high-affinity short substrate-derived peptides and peptidomimetics without warheads for SARS-CoV-2 Mpro inhibition. Despite the development of inhibitors, only a long linear peptide displayed moderate inhibition, suggesting the need for further research in drug discovery targeting Mpro.

Summary: A bifunctional ionic liquid has been designed and explored as a catalyst for the synthesis of 2-phenylquinazolin-4(3H)-ones. The reaction can be completed in 3.5 minutes using microwave irradiation. In addition, the ionic liquid was used to assist the oxidation of benzyl alcohol to aldehyde without the need for metal catalysts, solvents, and bases. The multifunctionality of the ionic liquid was further confirmed in the synthesis of two Wnt pathway antagonists.

Summary: This study focuses on magnetic ionic liquids (MILs) containing paramagnetic centers. It shows that modifications in the chemical structure of diglycolamides can influence the physico-chemical properties of MILs. Transition metals can improve thermal stability and reduce viscosity, leading to higher effective magnetic moments. The results highlight the importance of structural tunability in MILs for various applications such as organic synthesis and chemical separations.
