Summary: This study used various methods to analyze X-ray diffractograms of spherical cerium dioxide and titanium dioxide anatase nanoparticles, aiming to evaluate their reliability and limitations. Through integral breadth methods, linear regression analysis, and the Rietveld whole powder pattern decomposition method, accurate crystallite sizes and microstructural parameters were obtained.

Summary: Semiconductor-based direct conversion X-ray sensors have widespread applications, but current findings on perovskite-based X-ray detection show drawbacks in terms of leakage current and stability. This study aims to enhance the sensitivity of AgBiS2 by segregating cerium oxide micro/nanocrystals, leading to improved attenuation and enhanced photocurrent generation.

Summary: This study investigates multilayer interference structures based on Mo/Si and W/Si using laboratory X-ray micro-fluorescence analysis and statistical analysis. The degree of homogeneity and chemical compositions of the multilayer mirrors are evaluated using X-ray spectroscopy and mathematical statistics. A correlation between the statistical characteristics of bimodal frequency distribution and the reflectivity properties of X-ray mirrors for scattered radiation is revealed.

Summary: In this study, the pressure dependence of cerium oxide (ceria) was investigated using angle dispersive x-ray diffraction. The differential stress and changes in preferred orientation were measured as pressure increased, providing insights into the deformation mechanisms of ceria under high pressure.

Summary: This article investigates the key compound of cerium oxide as a catalyst and identifies an intermediate phase of Ce-(IV) that forms in the presence of air. The crystal structure of this phase is proposed, and it is confirmed to be an observable intermediate in the synthesis of cerium dioxide.

Summary: Novel shielding glasses with different CeO2 concentrations were fabricated and studied for their luminescent and radiation shielding properties. The glasses showed redshift in UV range due to higher Ce concentration, with emission bands observed from Ce3+ ion. The glasses exhibited good X-ray shielding behavior and potential applications in radiation shielding and UV emitting devices.

Summary: A method combining operando computed tomography and X-ray absorption near-edge structure spectroscopy (CT-XANES) is proposed in this paper to directly track the evolution of the 3D distribution of local capacity loss in battery electrodes. The method enables a five-dimensional analysis of degradation, including spatial coordinates, time, and chemical state. It quantifies the spatiotemporal dynamics of local capacity degradation and correlates it with overall electrode performance, providing critical insights for identifying degradation factors and developing batteries with long-term stability.

Summary: This study shows that the dehydrogenation activation energy of MgH2 can be lowered by incorporating ceria, but the ceria undergoes phase transformations during dehydrogenation. It also suggests that reduced cerium oxide phases may be mistaken as cerium hydrides, therefore the belief in CeH2 as an active catalyst in the MgH2/CeO2 hydrogen storage system needs further scrutiny.

Summary: This study found that adding ZnCl2 can increase the efficiency of EC for PFOA, and the longer the carbon chain of PFA, the better the removal by EC. Chemical bonding between aluminum and fluoride was observed. The main functions of ZnCl2 were to prevent the rise in pH and improve flotation.

Summary: This paper presents the methods and performance of the Microchannel X-ray Telescope (MXT) on the Space-based multiband astronomical Variable (SVOM). By utilizing cross-correlation techniques, the algorithm is able to achieve a localization accuracy down to 2' with fewer than 200 photons, ensuring rapid follow-up for most observed gamma-ray bursts by SVOM.

Summary: In this study, reduced graphene oxide/zinc oxide hybrid nanocomposites were prepared and investigated for supercapacitor electrodes. The evolution of intrinsic defects and their effects on the properties of the hybrid nanocomposites were studied using electron paramagnetic resonance spectroscopy. The electrochemical analyses showed improved charge transfer performance and ion diffusion in the rGO electrode with the incorporation of ZnO rich in core defects.

Summary: In this study, the origin of the volcano-shaped activity trend for VOx/CeOx catalysts in ethanol oxidative dehydrogenation (ODH) was clarified using operando quick V K- and Ce L-3- edge XAS experiments. It was found that both vanadium and cerium synergistically contribute to the alcohol ODH activity, with the concentration of reversible Ce4+/Ce3+ species being the main descriptor. The activity drop observed at a surface loading above ca. 3 V nm(-2) (ca. 30% VOx monolayer coverage) was attributed to the formation of spectator V4+ and Ce3+ species, which were identified for the first time.

Summary: The electrodeposition method was used to obtain nanostructured layers of Co/nano-CeO2 on 304L stainless steel. The influence of current densities and nanoparticle concentrations on the characteristics of the obtained nanostructured layers was discussed. The results showed that the nanostructured layers became more hydrophilic with increasing nanoparticle concentration and increasing current density.

Summary: Nanoparticles of CeO2 and rare-earth cation Eu-doped Ceria Ce1-xEuxO2 (x = 0.03, 0.05, and 0.07) were prepared by chemical co-precipitation route and investigated for their various properties. The doped nanoparticles showed strain and phase maintained structures, with crystallite sizes between 13 and 26 nm. X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy analyses confirmed the replacement of Ce with Eu in different oxidation states, as well as the correlation between oxygen vacancies and Eu doping concentration. The formation of complexes involving host and doped cations, mediated by oxygen vacancies, indicated the presence of F0, F+, and F2+ centres.
