Summary: LiMn2O4 (LMO) nano-cubes with a porous structure were synthesized using pre-synthesized Mn2O3 porous nano-cubes as a sacrificial template. As a cathode material for lithium-ion batteries, the porous LiMn2O4 nano-cubes effectively shorten the Li+ transport paths, leading to excellent Li+ extraction and insertion performance. The discharge specific capacity was 95.39 mA h g(-1) with a capacity retention rate of 90.91% after 500 cycles at a current density of 100 mA g(-1). This work provides a reliable synthetic route for LiMn2O4 materials and offers a potential solution for lithium manganate synthesis.

Summary: Operando synchrotron experiments provide insights into the Mn dissolution/redeposition dynamics in Mn-containing cathodes and demonstrate the effectiveness of ion-capturing polymers in regulating Mn interfacial dynamics. Mn dissolution is a major issue that negatively affects the performance of Mn-based battery materials. This study visualizes and quantifies the dynamic Mn dissolution/redeposition process in Mn-containing cathodes and identifies the contributions of different interfacial degradation mechanisms at different states of charge. The introduction of sulfonated polymers (Nafion) into composite electrodes can successfully modulate the Mn dissolution/redeposition dynamics and improve battery performance.

Summary: Amorphous Al2O3-coated spinel LiMn2O4 cathode materials were prepared via a simple combustion method using glucose as a fuel at a low temperature. The Al2O3-coating improved the cycling and high current rate performance of the LiMn2O4, resulting in high initial discharge capacity and good cycling stability.

Summary: The study found that suitable surfactants and reaction conditions can improve the performance of nanocrystalline spinel materials as supercapacitor electrodes, with the NiO@NiFe2O4 composite material exhibiting higher capacitance and better electrochemical stability. Summary: In this study, Spinel LiMgxMn2-xO4 cathode materials were synthesized using a hydrothermal method, and the effects of Mg doping on the structure and electrochemical performance of LiMn2O4 were investigated. The results showed that an appropriate amount of Mg doping improved the crystallinity and particle uniformity of the samples, and enhanced the cycling performance and electrochemical properties of LiMn1.97Mg0.03O4.

Summary: A new route for the synthesis of highly pure true nanoparticles of LiMn2O4 through microwave-assisted hydrothermal reaction using water-soluble reagents at low temperature and short reaction time is presented. The synthesized nanoparticles showed excellent chemical, structural, and promising electrochemical properties.

Summary: The drawback of the hydrothermal technique is the long operation time, which hinders its commercial application. To overcome this issue, microwaves can be implemented to improve the process kinetics and achieve pure-phase and homogeneous products. In this study, nanometric zinc aluminate particles with a spinel structure were successfully synthesized using a hydrothermal method and a microwave reactor, with grain sizes ranging from 6 to 8 nm.

Summary: Hydrothermal alteration of chromitite bodies in the Sabzevar ophiolite belt in NE Iran has been studied at the nanoscale. The alteration of Cr-spinel in chromitites follows two distinct chemical trends: an increase in Cr without Fe3+ incorporation in massive and semi-massive chromitites, and an increase in Cr with Fe3+ incorporation in serpentinized dunites. The replacement of primary Cr-spinel by porous ferrian Crspinel and magnetite is isomorphic.

Summary: MgAl2O4 ceramics were synthesized by a Pechini-type hydrothermal process, with the effects of different hydrolysis solvents investigated. The results showed that powders obtained in hydrophilic solvents exhibited different characteristics, and sheet-like MgAl2O4: Cr3+ powders had better emission intensity.

Summary: The Ni-F co-doped nano LiNi0.03Mn1.97O3.95F0.05 (LNMOF) cathode material, synthesized through a molten-salt combustion method, shows improved rate performance, cycling stability, and specific capacity. After 1000 cycles, LNMOF demonstrates high capacity retention and minimal changes in crystal structure, indicating the effectiveness of moderate Ni-F co-doping in enhancing the cycle performance of LiMn2O4 cathode materials.

Summary: Au nano- and microparticles were successfully synthesized using alpha-D-glucose as the reducer and stabilizer under 20 kHz ultrasound irradiation. The pH of the reaction mixture played a critical role in determining the size of the particles, with low pH producing nanoparticles and high pH yielding microparticles. The study also revealed that continuous sonication reduced larger amounts of the Au precursor compared to intermittent mode, highlighting the importance of experimental and ultrasound parameters in controlling the features of the Au particles.

Summary: This research focused on the synthesis of apatite using egg-shells as a natural calcium source, comparing it with two commercial xenografts. Characterization techniques revealed compositional and structural similarities or differences between the synthesized powder and the commercial xenografts. The study showed promising biocompatibility results for bone tissue regeneration applications of the synthesized apatite.

This study utilized first-principles calculations to investigate the formation energies, local structures, charge compensation mechanism, clustering of point defects, and Li ion diffusion around the defects in LiMn2O4. The findings provide theoretical support for understanding point defects in spinel LiMn2O4.
