Summary: Inflammatory myofibroblastic tumor (IMT) is a rare neoplasm with unknown underlying pathogenesis. While primarily occurring in the lungs, it can also affect other sites such as the mesentery and retroperitoneum, with intracranial involvement being extremely rare. Diagnosing intracranial IMT remains difficult due to the lack of specific clinical symptoms and characteristic radiographic features. Successful pharmacological treatment suggests that surgery may not be the only therapeutic option, highlighting the importance of accurate diagnosis and appropriate treatment selection.

Summary: The objective of this study is to investigate the expectations of patients regarding postoperative quality of life after surgical acoustic neuroma resection, and to identify the impact of surgical approach and patient characteristics on quality-of-life assessment. The findings highlight the importance of preoperative patient counseling in setting appropriate expectations and suggest that alternative surgical incisions and soft tissue dissection may improve postoperative pain and overall quality of life.

Summary: The aim of this study was to evaluate the quality of life after surgical treatment of brain tumors. The results showed that the greatest reduction in quality of life after surgery was observed in patients with low-grade glial tumors and extracerebral tumors, while after 30 days, there was an improvement in quality of life for all patients. The histopathological diagnosis of different tumor types had an impact on patients' quality of life.

Summary: This study investigates the correlation between the development of bronchiectasis after lung resection surgery and the health-related quality of life of patients. The study found that patients with bronchiectasis had poorer overall health status, increased respiratory symptoms, lower physical activity levels, lower quality of life scores, and experienced more severe anxiety symptoms. They also perceived higher levels of stress. Further research is needed to understand the contradictory correlations with stress and physical functioning.

Summary: This study aimed to explore the predictive role of mental well-being on quality of life for patients with acoustic neuroma (AN). The study found that headache, tinnitus, and mental well-being were significantly correlated with quality of life, with mental well-being having the largest impact. Additionally, the surgery group had significantly higher depression scores compared to the radiation group.

Summary: This paper proposes a postoperative hearing preservation prediction model based on extreme gradient boost tree (XGBoost) for class-imbalanced hospital real data. The synthetic minority oversampling technique (SMOTE) is applied to address sample imbalance. Multiple machine learning models are used to accurately predict surgical hearing preservation in acoustic neuroma patients. Experimental results show that the proposed model outperforms existing research. In summary, this paper's method contributes significantly to the development of personalized preoperative diagnosis and treatment plans, allowing for effective judgment of hearing retention in patients with acoustic neuroma following surgery, simplifying the lengthy medical process, and saving medical resources.

Summary: The study found that a considerable number of meningioma patients newly diagnosed and ready for surgery in China suffer from sleep disturbance, potentially affecting their quality of life. Fatigue and headache are independent factors associated with sleep disturbance in meningioma patients.

Summary: The objective of this study was to evaluate the effect of palliative surgery using posterior transpedicular approach (PTA) with posterior instrumentation on pain response and quality of life (QoL) in patients with metastatic thoracic and lumbar tumors. The results showed that patients experienced a significant reduction in pain, improvement in neurological status, and enhancement of QoL after surgery. However, there were also complications associated with the surgical procedure.

Summary: This retrospective study analyzed the long-term outcomes of 106 patients with unilateral sporadic acoustic neuromas who underwent gamma knife radiosurgery (GKS) as an initial treatment. The results showed that GKS could effectively control tumors, preserve serviceable hearing, and prevent cranial neuropathy.

Summary: ObjectiveEpilepsy after resection surgery significantly decreases the quality of life of children. This study aimed to investigate the quality of life of children with seizures after resection surgery and its influencing factors. It was found that surgery-related factors do not predict the quality of life, while preoperative language development retardation or language dysfunction and postoperative ILAE seizure outcome classification are independent predictors of the quality of life.
