Summary: In this study, bioinspired proton conducting channels are designed by immobilizing adenosine triphosphate (ATP) on graphene oxide (GO) nanosheets to form ordered ATP@GO laminates in Nafion. The composite membrane exhibits low methanol permeability and high proton conductivity, leading to enhanced performance of direct methanol fuel cells. The proposed ATP channel strategy serves as a reference for developing high-performance PEMs for fuel cells.

Summary: Prolonged cooling of cells can result in cell death, with both apoptosis and ferroptosis playing a role. Preservation solutions like the University of Wisconsin Cold Storage Solution (UW) have been shown to improve survival and extend preservation limits. However, the exact mechanisms of how these solutions exert their cold protection are still unclear. This study explored the effects of cooling on lipid peroxidation and ATP levels, as well as the actions of apoptosis and ferroptosis blockers. The results suggest that cooling-induced cell death is mainly caused by ferroptosis, and treatment with Ferrostatin-1 or SUL150 can effectively prevent ferroptosis and preserve ATP.

Summary: Considering the persistent problem of fire safety in polymeric materials, including polyurethane foam, there is a growing demand for flame retardants (FRs). This study demonstrates the successful coating of PU foam with a layer-by-layer assembly of adenosine triphosphate (ATP) and chitosan (CS) as an effective FR. The coated PU foam exhibited excellent fire retardancy, with a high limiting oxygen index value, reduced heat release rate, and decreased smoke release.

Summary: Islet transplantation is a useful treatment for severe diabetes mellitus, but limited donor supplies hinder its use. Establishing alternative donor sources and engineered tissue is important for producing appropriate insulin. Adult pigs are a feasible donor source, but isolating porcine islets is challenging. Gene-editing technology contributes to the possibility of clinical porcine islet xenotransplantation.

Summary: The impact of ischemia time on islet isolation outcomes is significant, with a decrease in success probability after a certain threshold. However, even with total ischemia time exceeding 12 hours, there is still a 50% probability of isolation success. Posttransplant clinical outcomes showed no significant difference regardless of ischemia time, suggesting that longer ischemia times can also provide excellent results in selected donors.

Summary: Intravenous ATP injection may induce atrial fibrillation and its association with the hyperactivity of the intrinsic cardiac autonomic nervous system is not well understood. Research suggests that ATP can provoke non-pulmonary vein trigger sites, and ganglionated plexus ablation has shown effectiveness in managing this condition.

Summary: Islet cells, especially from NHBD, showed greater benefits from hypoxic preconditioning (HP), including increased cell yields, viability, and in vitro function, and decreased apoptosis and reactive oxygen species generation. HP also decreased pro-apoptotic gene expression and increased HIF-1 and VEGF expression.

Summary: The interaction between cationic surfactants with different head group structures and oppositely charged biomolecules was studied. Amino acid additives did not affect the aggregation behavior of the surfactants but could significantly increase their solubilization capacity in some combinations. The addition of ATP decreased the critical micelle concentration of the surfactant and the solubilization capacity depended on the surfactant head group structure.

Summary: Induced tissue-specific stem cells (iTSCs) are partially reprogrammed cells with limited differentiation capacity, resembling somatic cell stem cells in tissues but distinct from iPSCs and ESCs. They can be obtained through reprogramming or conversion processes, and exhibit continuous proliferation in vitro without tumorigenic potential when transplanted into mice.
