While antibodies play an important protective role during dengue virus infection, they have also been linked to more severe clinical outcomes. In this issue of Cell Host & Microbe, Zellweger and colleagues (Zellweger et al., 2010) describe the development of a murine model of antibody-enhanced dengue virus infection that provides a formal link between immune enhancement and severe disease.
