Summary: This study analyzed and compared the efficacy of combination systemic therapies in metastatic hormone-sensitive prostate cancer and metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer with or without visceral metastasis. It was found that adding androgen receptor signaling inhibitor to standard of care improved overall survival in patients with visceral metastasis. In metastatic hormone-sensitive prostate cancer patients, darolutamide + docetaxel + androgen deprivation therapy had the highest likelihood of improved overall survival.

Summary: This study suggests that men with negative TRUS biopsies have a very low prostate cancer-specific mortality, especially for those with PSA <10 ng/ml. Mortality after re-biopsy is similar to after initial biopsy. Therefore, MRI targeting should only be recommended for men with PSA >10 ng/ml after negative biopsy.

Summary: This study assessed the prevalence of employment among childhood cancer survivors (CCS) and found that two-thirds of them were employed worldwide. The study also identified different employment rates based on socio-demographic and clinical factors, and highlighted the importance of designing targeted interventions to promote employment in this population.

Summary: In patients with prostate cancer within ISUP grade group 4, Gleason Score 4+4 is associated with better overall survival and positive surgical margin rates compared to Gleason Score 3+5 or 5+3, but there is no significant difference in cancer-specific survival between different Gleason patterns.

Summary: This study evaluates the relationship between somatotypes during early life and breast cancer risk through meta-analysis and provides corresponding recommendations. The results show a linear relationship between somatotypes and breast cancer, especially in individuals younger than 10 years old and postmenopausal women, indicating a lower risk of breast cancer with higher somatotypes. Therefore, it is recommended that children maintain a normal or slightly overweight somatotype throughout their lives.

Summary: This study aimed to evaluate the diagnostic performance of each MRI feature of the PI-RADS for predicting extraprostatic extension in prostate cancer. After screening 1955 studies, 17 studies with a total of 3062 men were included. Among the six MRI features, breach of the capsule with direct tumor extension and tumor-capsule interface > 10 mm were the most predictive of extraprostatic extension with the highest specificity (98.0%) and sensitivity (86.3%), respectively.

Summary: The aim of our meta-analysis was to analyze the prognostic value of the albumin to globulin ratio (AGR) in prostate cancer patients. The results showed that AGR did not have a significant predictive value in terms of staging, grading, and biochemical progression in non-metastatic PC patients. However, in metastatic PC patients, AGR showed an independent and significant predictive value.

Summary: This research conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis to investigate the relationship between agricultural exposures and neuroblastoma. The findings suggest that parental exposure to pesticides and insecticides, as well as residential exposure to crops/vegetables, may increase the risk of developing neuroblastoma in children.

Summary: The study investigates the genetic architecture of internalizing symptoms in children and adolescents, finding rater-based heterogeneity in genetic effects and genetic correlations with adult internalizing disorders and other childhood psychiatric traits. Additionally, reducing phenotypic heterogeneity in childhood samples is crucial for future GWAS success.

Summary: Childhood malnutrition significantly increases the risk of pneumonia deaths, with higher mortality risk associated with greater malnutrition severity. Over half of in-hospital pneumonia deaths are estimated to be attributable to child malnutrition, highlighting the urgent need to prioritize prevention and treatment of all forms of childhood malnutrition to continue progress in reducing pneumonia mortality.

Summary: The prevalence of symptomatic thromboembolic (TE) events in children with nephrotic syndrome (NS) was 3.60% (95% CI 1.95-5.63), which increased more than two-fold in children with congenital NS to 8.70% (95% CI 5.11-12.96). Potential risk factors for TE events in this population include congenital forms of NS and steroid resistance. This review provides a better estimate of the prevalence of TE in children with NS, while identifying potentially higher-risk populations who may benefit from TE screening and thromboprophylaxis.

Summary: The study found that the prevalence of fibropapillomatosis in green turtles was highest in areas where nutrient concentrations facilitated toxic phytoplankton blooms, while ultraviolet light exposure and the presence of parasitic and symbiotic species did not appear to impact disease prevalence. Management actions to reduce eutrophication in foraging areas should be implemented to counter outbreaks of fibropapillomatosis.

Summary: The field of reproductive epidemiology has focused on reproductive outcomes and gynecologic cancers, neglecting non-cancerous gynecologic conditions like uterine fibroids and endometriosis. This commentary identifies and illustrates three critical challenges to advancing epidemiologic research in this area, suggesting that greater investment and a patient-centered approach are needed.

Summary: This study aims to describe pathways and experiences of women's symptom recognition, appraisal, and management of endometriosis, as well as identify differences among a diverse group of women. The data collected will be used to analyze similarities and differences in experiences to inform interventions aimed at achieving more timely diagnoses for women with endometriosis. This research will be the first to compare pathways to diagnosis of endometriosis in a socioeconomically and racially diverse sample of US women.
