Summary: The study demonstrates that the fish-mouth-shaped (FMS) end-to-end biliary-to-biliary reconstruction surgery can effectively reduce the occurrence of postoperative benign biliary stricture, liver function damage, and jaundice. Both retrospective clinical study and animal experiments confirmed the safety and efficacy of FMS reconstruction surgery.

Summary: This study aimed to evaluate the value of triphase contrast-enhanced CT together with 3D reconstruction in preoperative evaluation of indications for autologous liver transplantation (ALT) in patients with end-stage hepatic alveolar echinococcosis (HAE). The results showed that this method can accurately assess the invasion of porta hepatis, retrohepatic vena cava, and other important vascular structures in patients with end-stage HAE.

Summary: This study demonstrated the feasibility and advantages of end-to-side anastomosis in airway reconstructions. The method allows tension-free anastomosis, which is crucial for surgical prognosis and decreasing complications. The reported cases had ideal surgical results. Further evaluation of the long-term outcomes of the end-to-side method is needed.

Summary: The study found that higher radiation dose to the esophageal anastomotic region and its location within the radiation field were associated with an increased risk of anastomotic leakage after trimodal therapy. Additionally, ETE intussusception anastomosis may reduce the occurrence of anastomotic leakage compared to ETE anastomosis.

Summary: To reduce complications of gallbladder surgeries, an improved approach named transhepatic percutaneous cholangial drainage (TPCD) combined with end-to-end biliary anastomosis was introduced for bile duct injury repairment. Clinical data of 12 patients were retrospectively analyzed, showing successful repairment of all injuries without fatal cases. The mean operative time and hospital stay duration were 367.5 ± 103.2 min and 11.3 ± 3.5 days, respectively. Bile leakage occurred in two cases (16.7%) at the anastomosis site, while low-grade fever and postoperative infection of the incision site were observed in three patients (25.0%) and one patient (8.3%), respectively. No postoperative bleeding or bile duct strictures occurred. Follow-up results showed no cholangitis or bile duct restenosis.

Summary: Through the 4DVarnet framework, we propose a parameterization scheme for the space-time interpolation of satellite altimeter data, addressing the challenge of sea surface current reconstruction. In simulation experiments, we demonstrate the effectiveness of this approach in different scenarios of upper ocean dynamics, achieving a relative improvement of 30% to 60% in reconstruction error compared to operational optimal interpolation. Additionally, we discuss uncertainty quantification and generalization properties, as well as future research directions and extensions.

Summary: Tricuspid regurgitation is associated with increased mortality and poor outcomes. There is a lack of sufficient treatment for tricuspid valve diseases. Transcatheter tricuspid valve interventions have emerged as a minimally invasive approach. Short-term results are satisfactory, but durability of the intervention needs to be considered.

Summary: This paper presents a novel approach called End-to-End Gradient Inversion (E2EGI) to address the challenge of mining valuable information from owners' level data while preserving data privacy. Compared to existing methods, E2EGI has the ability to reconstruct samples with higher similarity and can implement the Distributed Gradient Inversion algorithm with batch sizes of 8 to 256 on deep network models (such as ResNet-50) and ImageNet datasets. Additionally, a new Label Reconstruction algorithm is developed that achieves an 81% label reconstruction accuracy in one batch sample with a label repetition rate of 96%, a 27% improvement over existing methods. This work can support data security assessments for healthcare federated learning.

Summary: In this study, researchers reconstructed intrahepatic bile ducts in a rat decellularized liver graft using organoid technology. Through an ex vivo perfusion culture system, they successfully demonstrated the biliary characteristics of repopulated liver organoids and reconstructed biliary tree-like networks with luminal structures. They also established a method to mimic the appropriate cell distribution in the native liver and demonstrated reconstructed bile ducts in human organoids.

Summary: There is a trend in optical system design to consider real-world industrial demands and optimize the metrics for cost-performance trade-off. The end-to-end design, with the design metric as the expected quality index of the final image, is also gaining popularity. This article proposes an integrated approach to analyze the cost-performance trade-off in end-to-end designs, demonstrating its effectiveness with a simple optical model. The results show significant differences and performance improvements, particularly for lower-cost configurations.

Summary: Malnutrition is a common issue in patients with head and neck cancer, often due to swallowing difficulties and oral complications caused by both the tumor and oncological treatments. Patients with HPV-related oropharyngeal cancer differ from those without HPV, highlighting the importance of nutritional support for improving treatment outcomes and quality of life in this population.

Summary: This study showed that specific immune and hematological parameters are associated with survival in oropharyngeal cancer (OPC) patients. Higher NLR and SII were significant prognostic factors for HPV+ OPC patients, while higher PLT count was significant for HPV- OPC patients. These parameters should be considered in standard management of OPC patients to improve prognosis.

Summary: Head and neck cancer is a common type of cancer, with smoking, alcohol consumption, and human papillomavirus being well-known predictors. Food and nutrition, particularly the intake of non-starchy vegetables and fruits, play an important role in HNC etiology and can help lower the risk of developing HNC.

Summary: The study aimed to evaluate the nutritional and immune status of pancreatic cancer patients. Factors such as tumor location, age, Nutritional Risk Score, and prognostic nutritional index were found to influence nutritional status. Obesity (BMI >= 30 kg/m(2)) and malnutrition (NRS 2002 >= 3) were identified as predictors of postoperative complications.

Summary: The aim of this study was to assess and compare the nutritional status of patients with HPV-related and non-HPV-related oropharyngeal cancer before and after radiotherapy or chemoradiotherapy. The study found that regardless of HPV status, patients with OPC can develop malnutrition during RT/CRT. Higher BMI was associated with better overall survival and disease-free survival in the HPV- group, while higher total lymphocyte count (TLC) was associated with better disease-free survival in the HPV+ group.
