Summary: This study aimed to construct a predictive model for postoperative hypopituitarism in craniopharyngioma patients one year after surgery, and found that intact hypothalamus structure is critical in maintaining pituitary function. The study results showed that exclusive hypothalamus injury significantly increased the risk of anterior and posterior pituitary dysfunction, while exclusively sacrificing stalk infiltrated by tumors did not significantly increase the risk of pituitary dysfunction. The predictive models in both the training and validation groups showed high accuracy in predicting anterior and posterior pituitary dysfunction one year after surgery.

Summary: This study investigated the expression of SOST in giant cell tumor of bone (GCTB) and its correlation with predictor variables. The results showed that SOST staining was present in the majority of GCTB cases and was associated with tumor aggressiveness, patient symptoms, previous surgery, and age. This novel finding warrants further research on the role of SOST as a prognostic factor and therapeutic target in GCTB.

Summary: In this retrospective study, temozolomide was found to be an effective medical treatment for aggressive pituitary neuroendocrine tumors and pituitary carcinomas, but may sometimes lead to tumor progression. Co-administration with radiotherapy may increase progression-free survival.

Summary: 'Pituitary tumours' refers to different types of tumours originating from different regions of the hypothalamic-pituitary system. The majority of pituitary tumours are pituitary adenomas, and their prevalence is approximately 1 in 1000. This review focuses on the molecular and genetic aspects of pituitary adenomas, including familial pituitary tumours, germline and somatic genetic variants, and somatic genetic and molecular changes in sporadic pituitary adenomas.

Summary: The study aimed to evaluate patient-reported outcome measures (PROMs) in patients with insertional Achilles tendinopathy (IAT) treated surgically by debridement of all pathologies through a midline-incision trans-achillary approach (MITA). The results showed overall good postoperative PROMs after four years, but up to 47% of patients had residual symptoms. The only parameter negatively affecting PROMs was a postoperative shoe conflict.

Summary: A study investigated the impact of dementia on mortality, permanent care use, and ADL needs in individuals in aged care settings following hip fractures. The results indicated that dementia was associated with higher risk of mortality, earlier entry into permanent care, and increased likelihood of ADL limitations.

Summary: Surgical resection of giant pituitary adenomas remains challenging, with preoperative tumor diameter and volume being important factors. The surgical goal should include attempting to remove most tumor tissue to minimize the risk of residual tumor apoplexy, and experience with both transsphenoidal and multiple transcranial techniques is essential for minimizing complications and improving outcomes.

Summary: In recent years, an increased number of patients with GH-secreting adenomas were incidentally detected (ID). The ID group and CP group showed differences in clinical, biochemical, and radiological characteristics, but had similar 3-month biochemical remission rates and rates of normal IGF-1 levels after surgery.

Summary: In this study, the transcriptomic landscape of GH-producing PitNETs was investigated, revealing distinct changes in growth hormone related pathways and other cellular processes. The treatment regimens in the pituispheres model were found to affect specific cell proliferation and core functionality pathways. This study emphasizes the importance of selecting the correct model system for cell transcriptomic profiling and data interpretation.

Summary: Compared to non-giant macroadenomas, giant pituitary adenomas are more likely to present with a higher number of preoperative symptoms and have lesser chances of complete resection. They are also associated with a higher rate of recurrence, leading to more follow-up procedures. Larger, multi-center longitudinal studies are needed to validate these findings.

This study aims to analyze the surgical resection outcomes of prolactinoma and discuss the role of surgery in modern therapy.

Summary: The study evaluated Potential Concussive Events (PCEs) in Gaelic football matches to understand the characteristics of these events and their impact on Sport-Related Concussion (SRC). The findings suggest that PCEs, which may not always result in a clinical diagnosis of SRC, are high-risk events that can be used as indicators. The data provides initial guidance for the development of player protection strategies to reduce the incidence and severity of SRC in Gaelic football.
