Summary: Gastrointestinal immune-related adverse events caused by immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) often require interruption of cancer treatment. This study examined the clinical features and treatment outcomes of ICI gastritis. It was found that ICI gastritis can occur alone or more commonly with concurrent enteritis/colitis, with different clinical courses. Gastric biopsies are necessary to diagnose clinically significant cases with normal endoscopic appearance. Most patients with isolated gastritis can continue ICI therapy uninterrupted, but some may require glucocorticoids.

Summary: The ability to mentalize is crucial in social interactions, but individuals with ASD often struggle with it. Treatment based on mentalization has shown promise in enhancing mentalizing abilities and overall acceptance in patients with ASD, suggesting it as a potential therapeutic option for this population.

Summary: Changes in the brain's default mode network (DMN) are closely related to autism spectrum disorder (ASD), with ASD subjects showing higher participation coefficient (PC) of the DMN than healthy controls (HCs). This difference is due to lower intra-module connections within the DMN and higher inter-network connections between the DMN and other networks. The findings were consistent across different age groups and subtypes of ASD.

Summary: A 3.5-year-old female cheetah died after experiencing anorexia, regurgitation, and diarrhea for 10 days. Post-mortem examination revealed blood-filled stomach with mucosal thickening and ulcerations, as well as thickened and reddened intestinal mucosa with dark red to black pasty content. Gastritis due to Helicobacter infection and severe necrotizing neutrophilic enterocolitis with Campylobacter jejuni were identified as the primary causes. This association has not been previously reported in non-domestic felids.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate functional connectivity and functional network organization characteristics in individuals with Asperger's syndrome (AS) compared to healthy controls (HC). The results showed that individuals with AS had reduced local information processing and network resilience, but increased overall efficiency.

Summary: It is unclear if there are differences in moderate-to-vigorous physical activity (MVPA) levels between children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and typically developing children (TDC). This meta-analysis found that children with ASD engage in lower levels of daily MVPA compared to TDC, with a 30-minute reduction per day. They also have lower MVPA levels during physical education (PE) and recess, and a higher likelihood of not meeting the MVPA recommendation compared to TDC. Tailored interventions are needed to increase MVPA in children with ASD.

Summary: Community-driven projects in the Northwest Territories (NT) and Yukon (YT), Canada have explored the health impacts of Helicobacter pylori (Hp) infection in Indigenous communities. These projects aim to address community concerns about the frequent diagnosis of Hp infection and its link to gastric cancer deaths, which are perceived to be alarmingly common in the region. Previous results showed a high prevalence of stomach pathologies associated with increased cancer risk among Hp-positive participants. This follow-up study found that successful treatment to eliminate Hp infection has the potential to reduce the risk of stomach cancer in participating communities.

Summary: NEC, a disease of prematurity, is associated with AHR signaling. Administration of AHR ligands during pregnancy and postnatally can prevent NEC. AHR signaling plays a crucial role in the development of NEC and may be a potential therapeutic target for NEC.

Summary: The study identified six unique subsets of IL13-producing immune cells in inflamed stomachs and found that IL13 can directly induce a metaplastic phenotype in gastric epithelial cells. Neutralization of IL13 can reduce the severity of metaplasia during chronic gastritis.

Summary: This case report describes a male patient with right amygdala damage and an ASD. He displayed a non-response of the amygdala to fearful faces and tended to misinterpret fearful expressions. Moreover, a non-reactivity of both amygdalae to emotional facial expressions at an implicit processing level was revealed.

Summary: Despite advances in understanding the pathophysiology and risk factors of Hirschsprung-associated enterocolitis (HAEC), its morbidity rate remains unsatisfactorily stable and clinical management is challenging. This literature review summarizes recent research progress on the pathogenesis of HAEC, examining 50 eligible articles obtained from various databases. The review concludes that HAEC is a multifactorial clinical syndrome and emphasizes the importance of gaining deep insights into its pathogenesis to effectively manage the disease.
