Summary: Chronic cough is a common condition in German adults, especially in current and former smokers and those aged 50 or above. It is often associated with comorbidities, primarily respiratory system disorders, digestive tract disorders, and sleep disorders, which complicate management of these patients.

Summary: The study found that the majority of alcohol abstainers had a history of alcohol consumption and various risk factors that increased the likelihood of early death, such as former alcohol use disorders, risky alcohol drinking, tobacco smoking, and fair to poor health. It was also observed that abstainers without these risk factors had a life expectancy similar to low to moderate alcohol consumers, contradicting previous recommendations to drink alcohol for health reasons.

Summary: This study assessed the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on early childhood vaccination coverage in Alberta, Canada. It found that monthly vaccination coverage in 2020 was higher than 2019 until March, after which it significantly declined. The measles-containing vaccine had the largest decrease in coverage.

Summary: The study found that a majority of adult respondents in Germany have some level of awareness of rescue services, but lack knowledge about medical on call services and nearby emergency practices. Most respondents indicated they know whom to seek help from in a medical emergency situation.

Summary: This study aimed to assess the spatial distribution, trends, and determinants of crude full vaccination coverage (FVC) in children aged 12-59 months in Peru between 2010 and 2019. The study found that although FVC has increased, it remains below the recommended threshold. The increase in FVC was mainly attributed to changes in the effects of population characteristics. There is high heterogeneity and the presence of high-risk clusters across different regions in Peru.

Summary: The survey results indicate that German rheumatologists and general practitioners have high acceptance but low actual usage of telerheumatology care. Barriers include technology equipment purchase, administration, and poor reimbursement. Physicians prefer communication with other physicians, see the potential of telemedicine in follow-up phases, and believe that training courses are needed to improve knowledge.

Summary: This study examined the uptake of influenza and pertussis vaccination during pregnancy among women giving birth in New South Wales, Australia. The findings showed that while the coverage of both vaccines has increased over time, there are disparities in coverage based on maternal characteristics such as age, socioeconomic status, and health-related factors.

Summary: This study models the trends of vaccination coverage for diphtheria, tetanus, and pertussis-containing vaccines globally, and finds that routine immunization has been significantly disrupted during the first year of the COVID-19 pandemic, resulting in a decline in vaccination coverage. This setback in immunization progress poses a significant challenge.

Summary: The study found that individuals with a history of long-term medical consultation and medication, high perceived susceptibility to infections, high perceived benefits of the vaccine, recommendations from the government or physicians, and high levels of self-efficacy were more likely to participate in the vaccination program.

Summary: Through a direct survey of the population, this study aimed to assess the preferences of individuals regarding the provision of structured second medical opinions (SOs). The results showed that participants preferred to be informed directly and personally by their physician about the possibility of obtaining an SO, and considered obtaining an SO for oncological indications important. Additionally, personally delivered SOs were the preferred method of delivery.

Summary: This study examined the association between vaccine stockout and immunisation coverage, as well as infant/under 5 mortality rates. The results showed that countries experiencing national-level stockouts had significantly lower immunisation coverage rates. However, there was no significant association between the increasing frequency of vaccine stockouts and infant and under 5 mortality rates.

Summary: The study investigated the experiences, challenges, and perspectives of German GPs regarding end-of-life care during the first peak of the pandemic in spring 2020. Results showed that while most GPs believed that the quality of end-of-life care for patients was maintained during the pandemic, a significant proportion reported a decrease in quality. Changes in contact methods with patients, such as increased telephone contact and video consultations, were observed during the pandemic.

Summary: This study assessed the impact of a health system strengthening intervention on the relative contribution of routine immunisation and outreach activities in achieving immunisation goals in rural Madagascar. The results showed that the intervention led to an increase in immunisation rates, reduced economic inequality, and improved timeliness of vaccination.

Summary: The study aims to use the Non-Laboratory Interheart risk score tool for cardiovascular disease screening and explore barriers and facilitators in screening the general population. The results show that the screening was successfully conducted by training health students and other personnel, with 3,384 assessments completed in various locations within 5 months. The study found that the main facilitators were population willingness, trust between screeners and researchers, and media publicity. The main barriers included lack of motivation among some screeners, individuals at risk, stakeholders, and difficulties with the e-tool.

Summary: This study estimated HBV vaccination coverage in the general population and high-risk populations in Germany and identified evidence gaps for future research. While vaccination coverage in children/adolescents was relatively comprehensive, it remains below the WHO goal of 95% in Germany. Vaccination coverage for occupational risk populations met WHO goals but evidence quality was varied, while evidence for non-occupational risk populations was sparse and of low quality, indicating the need for further research to plan vaccination programs targeting these populations.

Summary: Serologic studies on SARS-CoV-2 prevalence in children and adolescents in Germany show that during the first wave of COVID-19, the seroprevalence was below 1% for preschool and elementary school children and below 2% for adolescents. However, as the pandemic progressed, seroprevalence rates as high as 8% were found in elementary school children. Future research should focus on estimating the proportion of children and adolescents who have been infected or vaccinated, as well as investigating health impairments post-infection.
