Summary: The reactivity of tetravalent framework Lewis acid sites (Ti, Zr, Sn, Hf) in hydrophobic beta zeolites (M-*BEA) was assessed using a model aldol reaction. The results showed that Zr and Hf are more effective Lewis acids, while propanal self-condensation has a higher rate.

Summary: A novel, flexible and strong technique for the synthesis of indazolo[3,2-b]quinazoline motifs using NiTiO3 as a catalyst was reported. The reaction pathway involved Claisen-Schmidt condensation, Michael reaction, and oxidation for three-component domino convention. The synthesized compounds exhibited fluorescent properties and high fluorescence quantum yields.

Summary: In this study, CoAl2O4 samples were synthesized using sol-gel method with different complexing agents. The presence of oxalic acid as a complexation agent favors the expansion of Co3O4 phase. In the presence of citric acid as a complexing agent, CoAl2O4 is the dominant phase. The catalytic performances of CoAl2O4 spinel oxides were evaluated and showed good relationship with the Co3+/Co2+ ratio, reactants conversion, and products yield.

Summary: A rapid, cheap and feasible new approach using tetramethylammonium hydroxide (TMAH) as a nontraditional hydrolysis agent was successfully applied to synthesize Mg0.375Fe0.375Al0.25-LDH through mechano-chemical and co-precipitation methods. This method has advantages in terms of fewer steps, lower energy involvement, and elimination of alkaline cation contamination. The basicity of the catalysts was found to have a linear dependence on their catalytic activity in Claisen-Schmidt condensation, and the presence of these catalysts inhibited the oxidation of benzaldehyde.

Summary: The unexpected spiro cyclic products were obtained from the alkali-catalyzed Claisen-Schmidt reaction of ketones with salicylaldehyde, in addition to the bis-chalcones. Under acid catalysis, the spiro products transformed into benzopyrylium salts. The study characterized the products obtained from cyclopentanone, cylcohexanone, and cylcoheptanone using various analytical techniques, and investigated the thermal properties of the spiro molecule synthesized from cylcoheptanone reactant. The impact of solvents, Lewis acid catalyst, and thermodynamic parameters like entropy were explored to rationalize the phenomenon, as well as the relationship between the bis-chalcone, spiro molecule, and benzopyrylium salt, with the investigation of ring expansion from cyclopentanone to cycloheptanone. The antibacterial potential of the synthesized spirobibenzopyrans and benzopyrylium salts was also presented.

Summary: In this study, controlled synthesis of ZSM-5 mesocrystals was achieved without special additives, utilizing selected area electron diffraction and fast Fourier transform to demonstrate the well oriented feature of synthesized zeolites. The crystallization process was further analyzed, with oriented particle attachment identified as an effective mechanism guiding the synthesis of mesocrystals. Superior catalytic performance was demonstrated in aldol condensation reactions, with 93% conversion obtained between benzaldehyde and 2-hydroxyacetophenone.

The results show that these compounds exhibit promising urease inhibition activity, with 1-phenyl-3-[5-(2,5-dichlorophenyl)-2-furyl]-2-propen-1-one and 1-phenyl-3-[5-(2'-chlorophenyl)-2-furyl] -2-propen-1-one displaying the highest activity.
