Summary: In contrast to many macrocyclic and cage compounds, the investigation of spirophanes with tetrahomo corona[4]arene-based macrocycles has been largely unexplored. This study synthesizes these novel ditopic and tritopic macrocycles through a convenient SNAr reaction using commercially available starting materials. The enantiopure chiral tetrahomo i-corona[4]arenes, spirophanes, and bispirophanes obtained exhibit interesting chiroptical properties and unique conformational structures, forming distinct complexes with TTF in the solid state. This research presents a new opportunity for the development of multitopic macrocycles of different topologies with potential applications in supramolecular chemistry.

Summary: In recent decades, there has been a growing interest in preparing polymers with host or guest moieties, leading to the development of new materials with unique properties. This study demonstrates the potential for developing polymers with various combinations of polymer chains by polymerizing host-appended molecules with different monomers. The research also shows that long polymer chains do not hinder host-guest complexation, even when a fullerene derivative is equipped with a polymer chain.

Summary: A novel pillar[5]arene-bridged monomer with TPE and nitrile group was synthesized and it formed supramolecular aggregates based on the host-guest interaction. The supramolecular aggregates exhibited significant aggregation-induced emission due to the restricted intramolecular rotation of the TPE core.

Summary: In this study, a triple-stranded metallohelicate was formed by self-assembly of 5,17-difunctionalized calix[4]arenes and metal cations, showing good encapsulation properties and selectivity. CD spectroscopy confirmed the preference of the metallohelicate for guest molecules. NMR, UV-vis experiments, and molecular mechanics calculations revealed the interaction mechanism between the metallohelicate and guest molecules.

Summary: The study focuses on utilizing p-tert-butylthiacalix[4]arene as a macrocyclic scaffold to design and synthesize dendrimer-like compounds. By modifying the macrocycle with fragments containing amide and lactide groups, original analogs of dendrimers with symmetric and asymmetric structures can be obtained. The 1,3-alternate conformation is found to be most favorable for binding catechol-amines, while the cone conformation shows selectivity in binding epinephrine and norepinephrine.

Summary: The study synthesized a new material SiO2@TiO2@SC4A for identifying lysine and arginine methylation in peptides, with higher levels of methylation showing stronger interactions. It also demonstrated selective extraction of methylated peptides from histone trypsin digestion and nuclear extracts of HeLa cells using the material, showing its potential in enrichment and identification of lysine methylations.

Summary: Understanding and controlling the structure of polymetallic clusters is crucial in supramolecular chemistry. In this study, we prepared three multinuclear cluster complexes with unique structures and demonstrated their selective molecular recognition towards dye molecules. These complexes were synthesized through metal-directed assembly using trivalent iron ions and sulfonylcalix[4]arene ligands.

Summary: Tetraamino-dihydroxy-oxacalix[4]arenes with different protonation states were synthesized and characterized. The conformational preferences of the macrocycles in different protonation states were investigated using NMR titrations and DFT calculations. The stability constants of the host-guest complexes formed between the macrocycles and paraquat were determined, and 1 · H^- was identified as the most efficient receptor for paraquat.

Summary: A series of new manganese complexes with highly-reproducible cluster cores were synthesized using auxiliary ligands. The involvement of auxiliary ligands leads to the distortion and controlled compression of the coordination sphere of the complexes. The presence of adamantyl groups affects the self-assembly of the complexes in the crystalline phase.

Summary: A neutral electron-deficient, pentafluorophenyl hydrazone-functionalized calix[4]arene, R, was able to visually detect fluoride out of 19 anions. The formation of R + F- was confirmed by UV-vis, H-1 & F-19 NMR, and ESI-MS studies. Variable temperature NMR studies revealed the formation of HF2-. DFT and TD-DFT studies demonstrated strong binding interactions between R and F-.

Summary: Host-guest drug delivery systems (HGDDSs) have been studied to modify therapeutic agents and improve treatment effects. The targeting ability of HGDDSs needs continuous improvement for the development of precision medicine. In this study, a lactose-modified azocalix[4]arene (LacAC4A) was used as a triple targeting drug carrier for antitumor purposes. LacAC4A showed effective tumor growth suppression through passive targeting, active targeting, and stimuli-responsive targeting. This design principle provides a new material for drug delivery systems.

Summary: The confused-prism[5]arene macrocycle (c-PrS[5](Me)) displays conformational adaptive behavior in the presence of ammonium guests, leading to a reversal of planar chirality and stereoselective directional threading. Directional axles also induce the formation of homochiral (pR)(5)-c-PrS[5](Me) pseudorotaxanes with up/down stereoisomers.

Summary: Molecular recognition of guest molecules in a confined cavity plays an important role in biological and artificial molecular systems. Resorcin[4]arene-based supramolecular hosts provide internal cavities that can accommodate coordination complexes, leading to the modulation of chemical and physical properties of the guests. By carefully selecting the host and guest complexes, a new supramolecular system can be created with unique structures and properties derived from the trapped coordination complexes.
