Summary: This study tested the combination of an approved fungicide with diverse FDA-approved agents to combat environmental fungi, revealing potent combinatorial activities. Through a high-throughput assay of FDA-approved compounds, 34 compounds in combination with the fungicide IPBC were found to strongly inhibit fungal growth. The study demonstrates the potential of these approved compounds for novel combinatorial applications in controlling fungal environmental opportunists.

Summary: Immunotherapy is a promising strategy for enhancing antitumoral immunity. However, many patients do not respond to current immunotherapy. An integrative understanding of tumor-immune infiltrate and immune cell IC expression and function is crucial for designing effective therapies. Simultaneous blockade of newly identified ICs, as well as previously described ICs, could improve antitumor response.

Summary: Recent studies have shown that NSAIDs have good antimicrobial and antifungal activity, and their combination with essential oils may be effective in treating Candida infections. This study evaluated the synergistic antifungal activity of Diclofenac Sodium Salt with Mentha x piperita, Pelargonium graveolens, and Melaleuca alternifolia essential oils. The combination of these essential oils with DSS improved antifungal activity against various Candida strains in vitro.

Summary: This study aims to understand the factors contributing to the spatial heterogeneity of species diversity, particularly in ferns. By integrating species occurrence records, phylogenetic data, and climate layers, the research identifies hotspots of fern species richness and endemism, with tropical and subtropical mountains standing out as key regions. High environmental heterogeneity regions are found to harbor a disproportionate amount of fern species, with total species richness linearly scaling with available climate space.

Summary: The study found that ferns with chlorophyllous spores are more adapted to epiphytic and waterlogged habitats, and these species have lower incidences of mycorrhizal associations. Both spore type and mycorrhizal associations appear to play important roles in the radiation of ferns into different habitat types.

Summary: In this study, a molecular phylogenetic revision of hayscented ferns was conducted. The results showed that hayscented ferns are polyphyletic and a new classification was proposed. Three morphologically distinct clades were identified and a new type species was suggested. Additionally, three new genera were discovered: Microlepia, Mucura, and Sitobolium.

Summary: Following a recent phylogenetic study, this review focuses on the circumscription of the grammitid fern genus Oreogrammitis (Polypodiaceae: Grammitidoideae). Three new genera, Calligrammitis, Devolia, and Glabrigrammitis, are proposed to accommodate the three clades resolved outside of the core Oreogrammitis. This study presents the taxonomic treatment and illustrates the morphology of each new genus with a color plate.
