Summary: This study evaluated whether micronutrients (vitamins/minerals) benefit ADHD and irritability in a North American pediatric sample. The results showed that micronutrients demonstrated overall benefit over placebo according to blinded clinician ratings, but did not show significant differences in parent-report composite ratings. Additionally, the micronutrient group had greater height growth.

Summary: The Pediatric Adverse Event Rating Scale (PAERS) was used to measure adverse events in children with ADHD and emotional dysregulation in a multi-site clinical trial. The study found that a broad-spectrum multinutrient treatment resulted in greater improvement in anxiety symptoms compared to placebo, indicating it is a safe and effective intervention.

Inflammation and Vitamin C in Women with Prenatal Depression and Anxiety: Effect of Multinutrient Supplementation

Anitra C. C. Carr, Hayley A. A. Bradley, Emma Vlasiuk, Hayley Pierard, Jessica Beddow, Julia J. J. Rucklidge

Summary: Inflammation is associated with adverse mood states, while antioxidant nutrient vitamin C is linked to decreased inflammation and improved mood. This study on pregnant women with depression and anxiety found that elevated inflammation was associated with worse mood states and inversely associated with vitamin C status. Multinutrient supplementation increased vitamin C status but did not affect inflammatory biomarker concentrations.
