Summary: This study investigates the prognostic significance of Substance P (SP) and Pyruvate Kinase M2 (PKM2) in combination with Neurokinin 1 receptor (NK1R) and Ki-67 in hormone receptor negative (HR-ve) breast cancer. The results show that SP is associated with NK1R and Ki-67 expression levels, and PKM2 is associated with SP expression level. The combined expression of these markers can predict survival in HR-ve breast cancer patients.

Summary: In this study, the authors identified multiparametric MRI radiomic signatures of meningiomas using Ki-67 as a prognostic marker of clinical outcomes. They developed a machine learning algorithm to stratify meningiomas based on Ki-67 indices and found that the Ki-67 proliferation index can serve as a surrogate marker of increased meningioma aggressiveness independent of WHO grade. Machine learning using radiomic feature analysis may be used for the preoperative prediction of meningioma Ki-67, providing enhanced analytical insights to help improve diagnostic classification and guide patient-specific treatment strategies.

Summary: Menopausal status significantly correlates with breast cancer subtypes. TNBC is more frequently seen in postmenopausal patients. Premenopausal TNBC patients are more likely to have overexpression of p53 protein, a higher Ki-67 index value, and a higher nuclear grade. Menopausal status, nodal status, and tumor size are significant factors for DFS in TNBC cases.

Summary: The discovery of the Ki-67 antibody has played a significant role in determining breast cancer recurrence risk and response to chemotherapy. However, inconsistent results between pathologists have limited its use as a prognostic and predictive marker. This review highlights the historical evolution of Ki-67 in breast cancer and discusses its future as a clinical marker, emphasizing the need for standardization and consensus.

Summary: The calcium-sensing receptor (CaSR) is important in maintaining calcium balance and altered signaling through CaSR is associated with the development of various tumors including colorectal and breast tumors. A retrospective study involving 79 patients with invasive breast carcinoma explored the expression of CaSR in breast cancer. The study found that higher CaSR expression was correlated with larger tumor size, presence of HER2 receptors, lymph node involvement, distant metastasis, and increased Ki-67 proliferation index. This suggests that higher CaSR expression may indicate a poor prognosis and treatment outcome in breast cancer.

Summary: In breast cancer development, the expression of Ki-67 is a valuable indicator for prognosis and treatment decision making. The advent of molecular medicine has transformed breast cancer management by recognizing the heterogeneity of the disease and using a combination of factors for substratification and personalization of treatment modalities. Routine evaluation of Ki-67 as a proliferation marker in breast cancer patients has limitations, but promising strategies are being explored to enhance its utility in future oncology.

Summary: Ki-67 is a cell proliferation biomarker widely used in histopathology. Although its expression and localization throughout the cell cycle have been well characterized, its function and molecular mechanisms are not fully understood. Recent studies have revealed that Ki-67 plays important roles in localizing nucleolar material to the mitotic chromosome periphery and structuring perinucleolar heterochromatin, and it is also implicated in cancer development. However, its mechanisms of action remain unclear.

Summary: Pulsed arterial spin-labeling, diffusion tensor imaging (DTI), and magnetic resonance spectroscopy are useful for predicting glioma survival, particularly the parameters obtained in 3-Tesla MRI, including the rCBF ratio and Ki-67 labeling index. High rCBF ratios and Ki-67 labeling indices are associated with shorter overall survival durations in patients with cerebral glioblastomas.

Summary: This study optimized a procedure for measuring the Ki-67 index in lung adenocarcinoma and established the best cut-off value. Using the SP6 antibody for immunohistochemical staining, they successfully developed an optimal procedure for determining the Ki-67 labeling index. They identified an optimal cut-off value of 0.12 and achieved a coverage probability >70% and a confidence interval of <0.05 in over 90% of cases.

Summary: A librarian-led task force at the University of Tennessee Medical Center evaluated the health literacy attributes of their medical center using a widely-used tool, which ultimately led to the tool's update. The collaborative process of updating the HLEHHC tool involved an extensive literature review, editing, and formulating changes to better assess the organization's accommodation of low health literacy patients. The assessment conducted by the task force is playing a role in shaping changes within the organization.

Summary: This study retrospectively analyzed pain management and opioid use in patients with rib fractures. The study found that prescriber factors can affect the duration of opioid use, while lidocaine infusion can reduce dependence. It is recommended that prescribers pay attention to the daily equivalent opioid dose and number of pills in prescriptions, and early lidocaine infusion is recommended to reduce post-discharge opioid use.

Summary: This study examines the characteristics of health literacy publications authored by librarians from 2000 to 2020. Results show that librarian involvement in health literacy research has exponentially increased over the past two decades, particularly after 2014. Librarians demonstrate high productivity, multidisciplinary collaboration efforts, and consistent growth in their literature. However, further research is needed to explore the impact of librarians on health literacy that may not be reflected in well-indexed, peer-reviewed publications.
