Summary: The study identified circNUDT21 as an oncogenic circular RNA that promotes bladder cancer progression through the miR-16-1-3p/MDM2/p53 axis. This suggests circNUDT21 as a potential therapeutic target for bladder cancer. CircNUDT21 regulates the proliferative and invasive abilities of bladder cancer cells.

Summary: This retrospective study analyzed the histopathological features and MIB-1 expression in pleomorphic adenoma (PA) of the salivary gland that recur or undergo malignant transformation. The study found increased MIB-1 expression in carcinoma ex PA (CxPA) and recurrent pleomorphic adenoma (PA-rec), but not in primary PA that later recurred (PA-prim). CxPA showed increased mitotic activity, squamous metaplasia, and nuclear atypia. Tumor multifocality was more frequent in PA-rec and CxPA.

Summary: The meta-analysis revealed a high prevalence of RPL in the mixed population with VEGF-1154G/A and p53 Arg72Pro polymorphisms, while the Asian population showed higher prevalence with VEGF 936C/T polymorphism. Additionally, homozygous recessive genotypes exhibited significant association with RPL and increased risk of outcome.

Summary: The study indicates that SIRT2 inhibitor can reverse ATRX-deficient transcriptional changes, inhibit cell migration in glioma cells, and promote senescence markers expression. Additionally, SIRT2 inhibitor can impair the growth of ATRX-deficient glioma stem cells. These findings provide new insights into the strategies for treating ATRX-deficient gliomas.

Summary: Kruppel-like factor 6 (KLF6) is a well-studied member of the SP/KLF transcription factor family, playing a pivotal role in regulating cellular processes. Its splice variant 1 (KLF6-SV1) is involved in tumor occurrence and development and has the potential to become a new target for molecular targeted therapy.

Summary: TP53 is frequently mutated in cancer and can be inactivated by multiple mechanisms. Despite the expectation of increased expression of TP53 C-terminal alternative isoforms in tumors with wild type TP53, no substantial increase was observed in this study, suggesting that these isoforms may not be reliably selected for during tumor progression.

Summary: This study identified baseline variables associated with the MIB-1 labeling index in meningiomas, developed a scoring system to estimate the risk of an elevated MIB-1 index before surgical resection, and found that this score may predict progression-free survival. The study suggests that the novel score may help guide preoperative surgical planning, postoperative follow-up scheduling, and future trials investigating inflammatory burden and proliferative activity in meningioma patients.

Summary: This study explored the role of CEA family member 5 (CEACAM5) in head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC). The results showed a close association between CEACAM5 levels and lymph node (LN) metastasis, and high CEACAM5 levels had a positive impact on clinical prognosis. Experimental findings demonstrated that CEACAM5 inhibited cell proliferation and migration, and promoted apoptosis to suppress LN metastasis. Therefore, CEACAM5 has potential as both a prognostic marker and a therapeutic target in HNSCC.

Summary: This study found that EGFR-positive expression is associated with reduced overall survival in brain astrocytomas, while p53 expression does not show significant correlation with survival. In patients with low p53 expression, EGFR-positive staining is associated with worse survival. The combined expression of EGFR and p53 may have prognostic significance in astrocytomas.

Summary: Prokineticin 1 plays a pleiotropic role in trophoblast function during implantation and early placentation, with its signaling pathway regulating key functions such as cell proliferation and adhesion. The study also identified the involvement of various signaling pathways, including MAPK, PI3K/AKT/mTOR, and cAMP, in mediating the effects of PROK1 in trophoblasts. The findings suggest that PROK1 has a significant impact on trophoblast development and function in the early stages of pregnancy.

Summary: The cytotoxic activity of 11(4-Aminophenylamino)neocryptolepine (APAN) on HepG2 and HCT-116 carcinoma cell lines was evaluated, and the molecular mechanism through which it exerts its cytotoxic activity was investigated. APAN had highest affinity for protein tyrosine kinase 6 enzyme, and molecular docking studies confirmed its binding affinity scores for relevant proteins. APAN induced cytotoxicity in HepG2 and HCT-116 cells, increased expression of apoptotic proteins, and reduced expression of proliferative proteins.
