Summary: We evaluated the feasibility of a juxta-articular-type volar distal radius plate for the surgical treatment of marginal distal radius fractures. The study included 20 cases of marginal distal radius fractures treated with the ARIX Wrist System between July 2020 and July 2022. The results showed favorable clinical outcomes and no implant-related complications in East Asian patients.

Summary: Distal radius fractures (DRF) are common in elderly patients and can be effectively treated with hemiarthroplasty. The use of wide-awake local anesthesia and no tourniquet is beneficial in DRF plating. However, this technique has not been widely used in wrist hemiarthroplasty for irreparable fractures in elderly patients with osteoporosis.

Summary: Distal radius fracture is a common fracture in elderly patients, and treatment becomes more challenging when there is joint surface destruction and other adverse factors. Osteoporosis, chondropathy, and noncompliance can affect the success of primary therapy. Wrist hemiarthroplasty combined with proximal row carpectomy is a viable treatment option for severely comminuted DRF with posttraumatic degeneration of the lunate and manifest osteoporosis.

Summary: The study found no significant difference in DASH outcomes between above-elbow and below-elbow casting for non-surgical treatment of displaced distal radius fractures at 6 months. Below-elbow casting was less debilitating for patients during treatment, had comparable performance in maintaining reduction, and had fewer minor adverse effects compared to above-elbow casting.

Summary: The psychometric properties of the Numeric Rating Scale (NRS), Disabilities of the Arm, Shoulder and Hand (DASH), and Patient Rated Wrist Evaluation (PRWE) questionnaires were evaluated in patients with wrist osteoarthritis. The results showed that these questionnaires demonstrated excellent test-retest reliability and moderate to high construct validity, making them suitable for use in clinical practice for wrist osteoarthritis.

Summary: This study aimed to evaluate the feasibility and performance of an AI model in detecting common wrist fractures. The AI model was trained using a dataset of 4432 images, and tested on 593 subjects. Results showed high accuracy in detecting the fractures, particularly for scaphoid fractures which are often missed. The AI model significantly improved the performance of novice radiologists in detecting scaphoid fractures.

Summary: The Michigan Hand Outcomes Questionnaire (MHQ) was translated and culturally adapted to Swedish for patients with surgically treated distal radius fractures. The Swedish version, MHQ-Swe, demonstrated good validity and reliability, making it suitable for use in this patient population.

Summary: Bipolar fractures involving distal radius and radial head are rare injuries that require consideration of both wrist and elbow. Treatment options vary depending on the specific case, with surgical intervention or conservative treatment being viable options. Preserving radial length during surgery is important for optimizing patient outcomes.

Summary: This study investigated the treatment outcomes of distal ulna fractures in adults and examined the predictive ability of a recently presented fracture classification. The results showed that distal ulna fractures almost always heal and the treatment outcomes are comparable to isolated distal radius fractures. It was also found that transverse extra-articular ulna fractures do not benefit from internal fixation.

Summary: The aim of this study was to compare the clinical outcomes of cast immobilization (CI) versus surgical treatment after 1 year for distal radius fractures (DRFs) in the elderly population. The study found that there was no significant difference in DASH scores between the two treatment methods after 1 year, indicating that CI is still valid in older individuals. However, VLPP and IPP methods outperformed EFPP surgeries in terms of treatment outcomes.

Summary: Using a limited radial distraction procedure during fixed-angle plate fixation for distal radius fractures as an alternative to indirect ulnar shortening osteotomy can potentially reduce the occurrence of postoperative ulnar-sided wrist pain and improve functional outcomes.

Summary: The objective of this study was to translate the career success in nursing scale (CSNS) into Chinese and evaluate its psychometric properties. China lacks a professional tool for assessing the career success of nurses, so it is necessary to accurately assess the career success level of nurses. Participants were recruited from 22 hospitals of different grades in 5 cities in China using the stratified sampling method. The Chinese version of the CSNS had good psychometric properties and can be used for accurate assessment of nurses' career success.

Summary: Gait decline in older adults, especially distal radius fracture in females, is associated with subsequent fracture risk. However, little is known about the daily gait characteristics related to this risk.
