Summary: Analysis of data from the EAVE II cohort in Scotland has shown that a first dose of the ChAdOx1 nCoV-19 vaccine may be associated with increased risks of idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura, arterial thromboembolic events, and hemorrhagic events. However, there were no positive associations found between the BNT162b2 vaccine and these adverse events.

Summary: This study investigated the metabolomic changes in the spleen of patients with Idiopathic Thrombocytopenic Purpura (ITP) using H-1 MAS NMR. The results showed that the concentrations of several metabolites were altered in the spleen of ITP patients compared to normal spleen. The decrease in taurine level was identified as a potential diagnostic and efficacy-predictive biomarker for ITP treatment.

Summary: This study examined the effect of IVIG injection on blood cell counts and lymphocytes in pediatric patients with immune thrombocytopenic purpura. The results showed a decrease in the number of white blood cells, neutrophils, and lymphocytes, as well as an increase in the CD4 / CD8 cell ratio after IVIG injection.

Summary: This study aims to compare the clinical efficacy and safety of different types of Chinese herbal medicine in the treatment of idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura through network meta-analysis, and rank them according to their effectiveness. The results will provide evidence-based medical support for the treatment of ITP with Chinese herbal medicine and benefit more ITP patients.

Summary: This systematic review and meta-analysis evaluated the efficacy and safety of immunoglobulin therapy in idiopathic inflammatory myopathy and juvenile dermatomyositis. The results showed that immunoglobulin therapy improved muscle strength, reduced cutaneous disease activity and dysphagia, and reduced the use of glucocorticoids and immunosuppressants. The therapy was generally safe with a low risk of infection.

Summary: This study analyzed a national inpatient database to determine the appropriate dosage of intravenous immunoglobulin (IVIG) for preventing coronary artery abnormalities (CAAs) in patients with acute Kawasaki disease (KD). It found a U-shaped association between IVIG dose and the proportion of CAAs, with the optimal dosage being 2 g/kg.

Summary: The study found that immune thrombocytopenia (ITP) patients had a higher incidence of non-ST segment elevation myocardial infarction (NSTEMI) compared to non-ITP patients, but no significant association was found after adjusting for additional risk factors.

Summary: This study suggests that high-dose IVIg administered to severe COVID-19 patients within 14 days of onset is associated with reduced 28-day mortality, particularly in those without comorbidities or treated early in the disease course.

Summary: IVIg is commonly used as a replacement therapy for immunodeficiencies. It also has an immunomodulatory effect at higher doses, controlling autoimmune and inflammatory diseases. However, cost and accessibility issues, as well as the impact of decreased plasma donations, pose challenges.

Summary: This study conducted a meta-analysis of 12258 patients from nine retrospective studies to compare the efficacy of high-dose and low-dose aspirin in the treatment of Kawasaki disease. The results showed that low-dose aspirin plus intravenous immunoglobulin could be as effective as high-dose aspirin in preventing coronary artery abnormality, but high-dose aspirin might be related to reducing fever time and hospitalization time.

Summary: This study describes the presence of Helicobacter pylori in the oral cavity of a patient with immune thrombocytopenic purpura (ITP). The results suggest that teeth with severe bacterial infections may serve as potential reservoirs for H. pylori in patients with ITP.

Summary: This study compared the outcomes of low- and high-concentration IVIG preparations for children with KD, finding a difference in IVIG resistance but no significant difference in coronary artery abnormalities between the two groups. Prospective studies adjusting for IVIG administration duration and observation period are needed to confirm the results.

Summary: This case report details the medical history of a 53-year-old female with a 10-year history of idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura (ITP). The patient presented with fever and gum bleeding, and laboratory investigations revealed thrombocytopenia, hemolytic anemia, and positive serum dengue IgM antibodies. Despite initial treatment with glucocorticoids and immunoglobulin, the patient did not respond favorably, leading to suspicions of thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura (TTP). Diagnosis was confirmed through elevated PLASMIC score and low ADAMTS13 levels, and plasmapheresis resulted in a positive clinical response.
