Summary: This study investigated bloodstream infections (BSI) in patients undergoing hematopoietic stem cell transplant (HSCT). It found that BSI caused by multidrug-resistant bacteria had a high mortality rate. Rapid and accurate identification of infections and pathogens, as well as timely use of appropriate antibiotics, are crucial for improving the prognosis of BSI after HSCT.

Summary: In this study, the triple combination of CCNU and TMZ-irradiation was found to significantly reduce canine glioma cell survival in vitro. This combination therapy may help overcome therapeutic resistance and improve overall patient survival.

Summary: Limited information is available on the impact of pre-engraftment CMV DNAemia on clinical outcomes following allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (allo-HSCT). This retrospective multicenter study involving 878 patients found that patients with pre-CMV DNAemia had a higher probability of recurrent episodes but comparable rates of CMV disease. Overall mortality and non-relapse mortality at 1-year after allo-HSCT were similar across patients with pre- and post-engraftment CMV DNAemia episodes.

Summary: The study demonstrates the feasibility of cryopreserving VPA-expanded stem cell grafts derived from UCB-CD34+ cells for clinical utilization under cGMP. The cryopreserved expanded grafts showed high viability, retention of HSPC phenotypic subtypes, and long-term multilineage repopulation capacity in immunocompromised mice, with comparable cellular and functional parameters to fresh expanded products.

Summary: The efficacy between levofloxacin and ciprofloxacin prophylaxis in pediatric recipients undergoing allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation for hematological malignancies is similar, but levofloxacin prophylaxis is associated with significantly lower cumulative antibiotic exposure.

Summary: In this population-based retrospective cohort study of 3,059 hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) recipients, it was found that HSCT survivors had a higher risk of developing secondary malignancies, especially bone cancer. Male and female patients, as well as those who had received total body irradiation prior to HSCT, had a significantly higher risk. Regular follow-up and photoprotective measures are recommended for HSCT recipients to monitor and prevent the development of secondary malignancies.

Summary: The study demonstrates that the combination of melatonin and Filgrastim can effectively increase the number of peripheral CD34 cells/kg x 10^6 in AHSCT patients and reduce the time required for neutrophil engraftment.

Summary: High levels of sLDH pre- and post-allo-HSCT may predict poor patient survival, while high levels of sLDH on days 5-15 post-allo-HSCT may be associated with faster engraftment of platelets and white blood cells but also come with an increased risk of mortality.

Summary: Abnormal cell cycle regulation has been reported in multiple psychiatric disorders, and this study explored cell cycle in Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) for the first time, finding that cell cycle dysregulation could be a peripheral cellular phenotype for OCD. Among non-responders to SRI treatment, a lower proportion of cells in the G2/M phase was observed compared to responders, suggesting that these cell cycle changes may be related to the response to SRI medication.

Summary: Severe mental illnesses have complex inheritance patterns with both common and rare variants. Some genes affect brain morphology and neuropsychiatric manifestations, while others are linked to various signaling pathways. A 'disease in dish' approach can help further explore fundamental mechanisms.
