Summary: A polysaccharide-based pneumococcal vaccine has been developed to effectively inhibit various serotypes of Streptococcus pneumoniae infections, demonstrating good immunogenicity and protective efficacy in macaques. The vaccine induces PspA-specific IgGs, triggers complement C3 deposition, and enhances resistance to pneumococcal infections by inhibiting lung inflammation and reducing bacterial numbers in the lungs.

Summary: Nasal immunization plays a crucial role in defending against pathogens, but the development of nasal vaccines has been hindered due to their weak immunogenicity and lack of appropriate antigen carriers. Plant-derived adjuvants, such as chrysanthemum sporopollenin, show promising potential for vaccine delivery systems. In this study, a novel chrysanthemum sporopollenin vaccine delivery system was successfully fabricated, which exhibited high adhesion and retention in the nasal mucosa.

Summary: The outbreak of SARS-CoV-2 has led to the deadly COVID-19 pandemic, causing a profound impact on mankind and the world health care system. The current diagnostic tests and treatment methods for SARS-CoV-2 are not efficient enough to combat its spreading. Additionally, the antiviral drugs tested so far have not provided a definitive cure or suitable prophylaxis. Therefore, it is crucial to utilize nanomedicine to develop improved detection, treatment, and prevention strategies for SARS-CoV-2.

Summary: In E. coli, stress-induced mutagenesis led to the emergence of L-alanine prototrophic mutants when grown in L-alanine-deficient medium, with the mutants carrying point mutations in key metabolic pathways. Addition of pyruvate relieved the starvation stress and prevented the emergence of L-alanine prototrophic mutants, highlighting the role of pyruvate in inducing L-alanine prototrophy.
