Summary: The commercialization of nanocrystalline metals and alloys is experiencing a renaissance period, as many challenges in processing and consolidation have been better understood. This allows for the production of stabilized nanocrystalline metals at a large scale. The increased supply volume has also enabled investigations into traditional metalworking methods.

Summary: This study investigates the dynamic properties of sandy soil mixtures with different cement contents and polypropylene fiber percentages. The results show that a mixture with 7% cement content and 0.4% polypropylene fiber reinforcement provides the best shear wave velocity and shear stiffness.

Summary: This paper investigates Pickering emulgels stabilized by graphene oxide (GO) with didodecyldimethylammonium bromide (DDAB) as an auxiliary surfactant and liquid paraffin as the oil phase, which are proved to be excellent 3D printable ink. The structure of these emulgels is elucidated by microscopy, broadband dielectric spectroscopy and rheology analysis. It is found that the increase of DDAB surfactant and GO-contents results in an increase of modulus and viscosity, a reduction of nonlinear regime limits, and a complex variation of normal forces.

Summary: This study reveals the mechanism of E. coli-induced apoptosis through upregulation of m(6)A methylation and identifies the role of LOC4191 and ALKBH5 in this process. ALKBH5 stabilizes m(6)A-modified LOC4191 to suppress E. coli-induced apoptosis.

Summary: In this study, the dynamic interaction between soil-retaining wall is analyzed using three-dimensional discrete-element method (DEM) simulations. The characteristics of the input seismic wave, such as frequency and amplitude, have a significant impact on the dynamic response of the soil-sheetpile system. During seismic excitation, lateral earth pressure and bending moment increase, with final residual values usually larger than initial static ones.

Summary: This paper presents a KH-TEHD model to address the damage problems introduced by skidding behavior and validates its accuracy and effectiveness through experimental studies. The results show that the degree of overskidding is approximately proportional to the square of the bearing size, and the maximum thermal deformation at the bearing raceway under starvation lubrication reaches 4 times the ball-raceway clearance.

Summary: This study investigated the localization of solid microparticles at the surface of liquid droplets in Pickering emulsions using ultrasonic spectroscopy analysis and scattering function theory. The core-shell model was found to be effective for analyzing nanoparticles anchored at the surface of oil droplets, but an effective shell comprised of solid particles was no longer observed as the particle size or distance between solid particles increased. Large solid particles led to ultrasonic spectra resembling conventional surfactant-stabilized emulsions without solid stabilizers.

Summary: Spatial linear stability analysis is used to study the axisymmetric screech tones generated by twin converging round nozzles. Different waves supported by the flow at different conditions are identified using vortex-sheet and finite-thickness models. The frequency-wavenumber regions at which the upstream-propagating guided jet modes are neutrally stable vary with solution symmetry, jet separation, S, and the velocity profile. Screech-frequency predictions from both models agree well with experimental data, but the predictions from the finite-thickness model match the measured screech tones better than the vortex sheet. The present results suggest that the feedback loop generating these screech tones is similar to that observed for single-jet resonance.

Summary: A systematic study was conducted on a 17% Cr dual stabilized ferritic stainless steel to investigate the texture evolution during hot rolling and its impact on ridging resistance. Lowering the hot rolling finishing temperature was found to improve the resistance to ridging in the stabilized FSS, highlighting the importance of hot rolling process conditions in enhancing texture inherited from the casting of FSS.

Summary: The influence of strain path and crystallographic texture on the electrochemical properties of cold-rolled Ti-15333 alloy was investigated. It was found that both strain path and crystallographic texture significantly affected the corrosion resistance of the alloy. Shear bands and α- and γ- fibers were observed as the strain increased. Multi-step cross rolling resulted in a strong Rotated Cube texture, which enhanced the corrosion resistance of the alloy.

Summary: This study proposes novel corner designs of steel-concrete composite shear walls based on the design concept of plastic damage relocation. The seismic behavior of the designed corner structures was investigated through experimental tests. The results show that the proposed steel-concrete composite shear wall has better seismic performance than conventional shear walls, with the optimal length-width ratio being 0.2.

Summary: The rheology of concentrated nanoemulsions is crucial in various applications. Factors like interdroplet interactions, Laplace pressure, dispersed phase volume fraction, and continuous phase properties affect their rheological properties. This research focuses on the effect of poly(ethylene glycol)-diacrylate (PEGDA) on the interfacial tension and rheological properties of concentrated nanoemulsions. The results show that the rheological properties are highly dependent on PEGDA content, especially in small strain amplitudes.

Summary: This study investigates the microstructure evolution and texture development of a RE-containing Mg alloy during hot rolling, aiming to understand the formation of shear bands and their correlation with macro-texture characteristics. The results reveal the roles of different types of twins/variants and dislocation mechanisms in shear band formation, and provide insights into the influence of these factors on the texture development.
