Summary: This study sequenced the transcriptome of common buckwheat and Ukrainian daliqiao using high-throughput sequencing technology, obtaining a large amount of gene information and differentially expressed genes. SSR and EST-SSR loci were also detected. The clustering results verified the genetic relationship between common buckwheat and Ukrainian daliqiao. These findings are important for enriching the genetic information and marker-assisted selection breeding of buckwheat.

Summary: Understanding the genetic diversity and population structure of pea germplasm is necessary for developing rust resistant varieties. This study analyzed 115 Australian accessions and 4 Indian varieties using 31 polymorphic SSR markers, revealing 78 alleles and three alleles per marker on average. The population structure analysis identified three sub-populations and showed significant variation among the pea entries.

Summary: Biological invasion poses challenges due to distribution shifts. The invasive saltcedar shrub may have adapted to low rainfall in the southwestern US. Through experiments and genotyping, we found that saltcedar showed local adaptation to drought conditions, indicating its adaptive potential to extreme drought. This has implications for the expansion of saltcedar populations in the southwestern US.

Summary: This study developed a panel of highly polymorphic SSR markers suitable for genotyping Sporothrix species. PCR amplification revealed 240 alleles in 180 Sporothrix isolates, supporting the effectiveness of SSR markers in uncovering cryptic genetic diversity. The analysis of SSR diversity provided insights into the origins and transmission dynamics of cat-transmitted sporotrichosis.

Summary: Grass pea is an important legume crop known for its protein content and tolerance to environmental stress. However, it has been neglected due to the presence of a neurotoxin. This study assessed the genetic diversity and population structure of grass pea accessions from Ethiopia using SSR markers. The results showed the presence of genetic diversity and gene flow among different regions.

Summary: In this study, novel genomic-SSR (g-SSR) markers were used to characterize Tinospora cordifolia and related species. The g-SSR marker was compared with EST-SSR and SCoT markers and found to be a better marker for genetic diversity studies of T. cordifolia. In addition, the g-SSR marker showed high cross-species transferability, making it useful for studying related species.

Summary: This study assembled transcriptome sequences of Sagittaria trifolia and developed effective EST-SSR markers. A total of 86 microsatellite loci were identified and verified for their stable and polymorphic bands. These markers could be useful for examining population genetic structure, differentiation, and parentage analyses in ecological and evolutionary studies of S. trifolia.
