Summary: A novel oxime-based fluorescent chemosensor (PBO) has been developed for the fluorimetric detection of hypochlorite ion. The sensor shows distinctive spectral alterations and a color change in the presence of hypochlorite ion, with a linear relationship between the fluorimetric ratio and concentration of hypochlorite ion. The detection limit of PBO is 8 nM. The probe's optical response is due to nucleophilic attack and intramolecular charge transfer. The practical utility of PBO is confirmed through test paper analysis and fluorescence bio-imaging experiment.

Summary: In this study, three new 3d-4f heteronuclear coordination polymers were synthesized and characterized. Polymer 1 represents the first example of a nitrate bridged Cu(II)-Nd(III) zigzag one-dimensional chain. Polymers 2 and 3 are isomorphous two-dimensional coordination polymers with heterometallic dinuclear units connected by the isonicotinate anion as a spacer. Magnetic studies reveal antiferromagnetic interactions in 1 and 2, and ferromagnetic interactions in 3 between the metal ions.

Summary: A coumarin-based Schiff base fluorescence probe 1 was developed for the specific recognition of Al3+ with high anti-interference. The addition of Al3+ led to a reaction reaching a platform in about 30 min, with a fluorescent detection limit of 0.12 mu M. The coordination reaction between the carbonyl group, hydroxyl group, and -N--C- of probe 1 with Al3+ restricted molecular twist and fluorescence quenching, resulting in an increase in red fluorescence. The probe exhibited good repeatability in detecting Al3+ alternately with EDTA, and was successfully applied to monitor Al3+ in living cells and real water samples.

Summary: A novel hydrazide-hydrazone ligand derived from isonicotinic acid was synthesized and seven mononuclear complexes with Mn(II), Co(II), Ni(II), Cu(II), Zn(II), Cd(II), and Hg(II) were prepared and characterized. DFT studies were conducted to investigate the structures of the ligand and its complexes. The antimicrobial activities of the ligand and its complexes were compared, with the Hg(II) complex showing the best antibacterial and antifungal activity among all tested complexes.

Summary: In this study, a conjugated fluorene-modified Salen-type Schiff base ligand was designed to enhance the near-infrared emission of a ytterbium complex. The modified ligand effectively transferred energy from its triplet state to the ytterbium ions, resulting in enhanced near-infrared luminescence. The complex also showed potential for biomedical applications.

Summary: This study focuses on the synthesis, characterization, and properties of a yellowish, prism-shaped ligand. The ligand was synthesized by refluxing 1,5-diaminonaphthalene and pyridine-2-carbaldehyde in extra-pure ethanol, and its crystal structure was confirmed using X-ray diffraction. Computational spectroscopy and theoretical methods were used to investigate the ligand's electronic properties, and a Hirshfeld analysis was performed to study noncovalent interactions in the crystal form. The study provides valuable insights into this unique ligand.
