Summary: Cerebral amyloid angiopathy (CAA) is characterized by the accumulation of fibrillar amyloid-beta (A beta) peptides in or around cerebral blood vessels. Microenvironments play a role in influencing the structure of A beta fibrils, with vascular amyloid fibrils showing a mixture of parallel, in-register, and antiparallel beta-sheet structures, distinct from the structures found in parenchymal amyloid in Alzheimer's disease (AD).

Summary: A novel sandwich-type phosphomolybdate incorporating a novel hexagonal calcium phosphorus oxygen cluster was synthesized and shown to modulate the misfolding conformation of A beta in Alzheimer's disease and suppress the production of reactive oxygen species.

Summary: Keloid fibroblasts (KFs) are stiffer than normal fibroblasts (NFs) with higher levels of nuclear YAP and alpha-SMA expression. In NFs, YAP nuclear translocation is influenced by matrix stiffness and TGF-beta stimulation, while KFs exhibit baseline elevated nuclear YAP levels that are unresponsive to matrix stiffness or TGF-beta stimulation.

Summary: Researchers improved the activity of β-GUS on drug metabolites by designing enzyme chimeras and site-saturation variants, and discovered a chimera from enzymes of different species that exhibited a significant increase in activity on morphine-3-glucuronide.

Summary: Researchers have successfully fabricated, electrically interrogated, and physically characterized a polypeptide film derived from reflectin, demonstrating its excellent proton conductivity and long-range proton transport capability. Physical characterization shows the polypeptide shares characteristics with its parent protein, offering insights into the relationship between its electrical functionality and solid-state structure.

Summary: This study presents a high-resolution structural model of retroviral capsid proteins, identifying key residues involved in controlling assembly curvature and providing new insights into the mechanism of retroviral capsid assembly. The study demonstrates large torsion angle changes in certain residues that result in rotation of C-terminal domain relative to N-terminal domain, without substantial changes in individual domains' conformation or assembly contact interfaces.
