Summary: Labial salivary gland biopsy is an efficient and minimally invasive diagnostic method for neuronal intranuclear inclusion disease (NIID), offering rapid healing and excellent sensitivity. Compared to skin biopsies, lip gland biopsies result in minimal scarring and postoperative complications.

Summary: This study investigated the relationship between patient characteristics and the distribution of Camper's and Scarpa's fascial layers in the abdominal wall. It found that as body mass index (BMI) increases, the proportion of Camper's fascia decreases and the ratio of Scarpa's fascia increases. These findings expand the scope of body composition studies.

Summary: This study investigated the differences between leprosy patients with and without neuropathic pain (NeP). The results showed that patients with NeP exhibited signs of C-fiber dysfunction and hyperesthesia, while patients without NeP did not. It was also found that the duration of leprosy treatment was associated with the intensity of neuropathy.

Summary: The study demonstrated that NGF expression is upregulated after radiotherapy and plays a protective role in salivary glands by reducing radiation-induced cell apoptosis and protecting against damage. NGF protects salivary glands from radiation-induced apoptosis by de-phosphorylating JNK kinase rather than promoting AKT phosphorylation.

Summary: The study focused on the CT/MRI features of salivary duct carcinoma, with observations of central low signal areas on T2WI/DWI. Pathological correlation revealed that the central low signal area reflected hyaline degeneration in the tumor, and gross nerve involvement could be detected as enhanced structures.

Summary: This study evaluated the role of minor salivary gland biopsy histology in diagnosing primary SS-associated non-Hodgkin B-cell lymphoma. The results showed that mSGB histology enabled NHL diagnosis in half of the patients with suspected NHL, with 95.8% of cases identified as MALT lymphomas.

Summary: The study aimed to understand the relative value of different approaches in assessing salivary gland involvement in pSS. The results showed that histopathology, salivary flow, and ultrasonography assess different constructs of salivary gland involvement and have low correlations. Therefore, these three modalities are complementary and cannot directly replace each other in the diagnosis of pSS.

Summary: The study found that cutaneous amyloid deposition in the early stage of hereditary ATTR amyloidosis has high sensitivity and specificity in relation to patient-reported neuropathy symptoms, which may help in early diagnosis and treatment.

Summary: The study aimed to explore the role of LMSG focus score (FS) in stratifying SS patients, with findings identifying FS, cryoglobulinemia, and salivary gland enlargement (SGE) as independent lymphoma-associated risk factors. Patients with FS >= 4 had a shorter time interval to lymphoma diagnosis and were more likely to develop B cell origin manifestations and lymphoma. These results suggest that FS evaluated at the time of SS diagnosis may serve as a predictive biomarker for early diagnosis of SS-associated lymphomas.

Summary: This study aimed to quantify the confounding effect of subcutaneous fat thickness and found that fat has a negative impact on estimates of muscle quality. Equations for correcting muscle quality estimates were provided after adjust focus in ultrasound images, leading to improved accuracy in estimating muscle quality for obese/overweight individuals.

Summary: This study evaluated the association between salivary gland scintigraphy and clinical parameters in patients with primary Sjogren's syndrome (pSS). The results suggest that salivary gland scintigraphy may be an acceptable alternative method, especially when a non-invasive test is required.

Summary: This study investigated the differences in recurrence risk and other factors between fast and slow Pleomorphic adenoma (PA) subgroups. The results showed that fast PAs significantly increased the risk of recurrence, and factors such as age, tumor growth rate, and surgical margins can impact tumor recurrence rate when compared to slow PAs.
