Summary: This study evaluated the protective effects of antioxidants, such as lycopene, citric acid, and chlorella, against the toxic effects of ingested microplastics in Clarias gariepinus. The results showed that these antioxidants partially or completely reversed the histopathological changes in the kidney, liver, and intestine of the fish.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the potential benefits of Gum Arabic/Acacia senegal in mitigating the harmful effects of cisplatin on spermatogenesis and testicular health in male adult rats. The results showed that cisplatin caused oxidative stress, decreased antioxidant activities, and histological damage to the testicular structure. However, co-administration of Gum Arabic with cisplatin reversed these effects and improved sperm quality and testicular health.

Summary: This study reviewed the protective effects of pomegranate against natural and chemical toxins. Pomegranate and its active components, such as ellagic acid and punicalagin, demonstrated protective effects against aflatoxins, endotoxins, arsenic, diazinon, and carbon tetrachloride. These effects were attributed to mechanisms such as antioxidant activity, reduction of inflammation, modulation of apoptosis, and improvement of liver or cardiac function. Despite the lack of clinical trials, these findings provide valuable insights for further research on the protective effects of pomegranate.

Summary: Zinc pyrithione (ZPT) is widely used as an antifouling, antibacterial, and antifungal agent, but it has been shown to be toxic to marine life. However, there is limited research on the toxicity and toxicological mechanism of ZPT in the reproductive systems of aquatic organisms. Our study found that ZPT exposure caused various abnormalities in zebrafish sperm and testicular tissue, including decreased testosterone levels, sperm deformities, decreased sperm concentration and motility, and DNA damage in testicular tissue. We also identified potential mechanisms of ZPT-induced testicular injury through RNA-seq analysis of differentially expressed genes (DEGs).

Summary: This study demonstrates that C-phycocyanin can protect GC-1 spg cells and the reproductive system of male mice from injury, and it has antioxidant and inhibitory effects on the necroptotic signaling pathway. Therefore, C-phycocyanin could serve as a promising reproductive system protective agent.

Summary: This study examined the sperm retrieval rate in men with persistent azoospermia post-chemotherapy in relation to cyclophosphamide equivalent dose (CED). The results showed that patients exposed to alkylating agents had significantly lower sperm retrieval rates compared to those not exposed to alkylating agents. Higher doses of alkylating agents were associated with a decreased likelihood of successful sperm retrieval.

Summary: The study found that sub-lethal doses of Harness (R) affected the shape of erythrocytes, hemato-biochemical parameters, genotoxicity, and histopathological changes in African catfish. LYCO administration was effective in reducing the toxicity of Harness (R) and alleviating its destructive effects on the fish.

Summary: This study evaluated the protective effect of ellagic acid (EA) on cyclophosphamide-induced renal damage. The results showed that EA significantly reduced renal pathological damage and decreased the positivity of 8-OHdG and HIF-1α, while increasing the positivity of Bcl-2. These findings suggest that EA has a protective effect against cyclophosphamide-induced renal damage.

Summary: The study revealed a significant relationship between carbamazepine usage and male infertility, with decreased sperm motility and hormonal balance, as well as increased abnormal sperm morphology. Alterations in the expressions of KCNJ11, CFTR, and miRNAs were found to be associated with impaired sperm parameters, indicating potential mechanisms underlying male infertility caused by carbamazepine.

Summary: This study investigated the changes in heavy metal levels in serum and testicular tissue, as well as serum hormone levels, epididymal spermatozoa characteristics, tissue oxidative stress levels, testicular histology, and testicular apoptosis level in rams raised in remote and near regions of a thermal power plant. The results showed that rams raised near the thermal power plant suffered significant damage in terms of heavy metal accumulation, reproductive hormones, oxidative stress, sperm characteristics, and testicular histology, compared to those raised in remote areas.
