Summary: This study found that experiencing proteinuria increased the risks of ischemic heart disease (IHD), acute myocardial infarction (AMI), and angina pectoris, even after proteinuria resolved. Persistent proteinuria had the highest risk, followed by incident and resolved proteinuria.

Summary: The study found that in patients with stable angina pectoris, an increase in total meat intake by 50g/1000kcal was inconclusive in its association with morbidity and mortality, but indicated an increased risk of acute myocardial infarction and gastrointestinal cancer. Age was observed to significantly modify these associations, with younger individuals showing increased risk of mortality and acute myocardial infarction, while older individuals had a reduced risk association.

Summary: Cardiologists in the UK primarily rely on NICE and European Society of Cardiology guidelines for decision-making. This article evaluates the current NICE recommendations on myocardial revascularization and compares them with other major international guidelines. Although there are similarities, subtle differences exist due to variations in evidence base, healthcare systems, and cost-effectiveness models. The clinical implications of these disparities will be analyzed.

Summary: This study aimed to examine the 1-year prognosis of patients surviving acute coronary syndrome (ACS) with concomitant first-time detected atrial fibrillation (AF). The results showed that first-time detected AF in ACS patients was strongly associated with ischaemic stroke, mortality, and bleeding rates comparable to patients with a history of AF.

Summary: The study found that angina affects almost one-quarter of stable coronary artery disease patients, but resolves without events or coronary revascularization in most cases. Patients whose angina resolved within one year with conservative management had outcomes similar to those without angina, while persistence or occurrence of angina was associated with worse outcomes.

Summary: This study suggests that reducing the extent of monthly night shifts, cumulative night shifts, years with rotating night shifts, years with any night shift and consecutive night shifts does not decrease the risk of coronary heart disease among workers with low exposure to night work.

Summary: This pilot study aimed to assess the implementation of the HEART score in West Balkan emergency departments. The results showed that 128 patients were classified as low-risk and 175 patients were classified as moderate-to-high-risk based on the HEART score. The study found that patients with a moderate-to-high-risk HEART score had a higher incidence of adverse cardiac events compared to those with a low-risk score. Overall, this pilot study provides preliminary insights into the integration of the HEART score in the West Balkan region.

Summary: The study investigated the correlation of adipolin with various parameters in patients undergoing angiography and found that serum adipolin levels were significantly decreased in patients with acute myocardial infarction compared to other groups. Additionally, there was a negative association between adipolin levels and epicardial fat thickness and Gensini score in coronary artery disease patients. This study revealed an independent association of adipolin with epicardial fat thickness for the first time in AMI patients, suggesting a potential role of decreased adipolin levels in the process of atherosclerosis.

Summary: The management of stable coronary artery disease focuses on preventing myocardial infarction and death. Recent studies have questioned the effectiveness of revascularization procedures. It is important to consider high-risk patients and address communication issues in doctor-patient consultations.

Summary: The study found that in patients with stable coronary artery disease (CAD) receiving cobalt-chromium everolimus-eluting stent (CoCr-EES) implantation, early neointimal proliferation and stent edge dissection were similar regardless of aggressive stent expansion. Most stent edge dissections resolved completely within 3 months, and there were no clinically driven target lesion revascularization or stent thrombosis observed after 1 year.

Summary: This study investigated the association between the time of cardiac rupture occurrence and the risk of in-hospital mortality after acute myocardial infarction (AMI). The results showed that the AMI-to-cardiac rupture time significantly impacted the risk of in-hospital mortality, highlighting the importance of rapid diagnosis and prompt surgical interventions for improving outcomes in patients with cardiac rupture following AMI.

Summary: Despite efforts in quick revascularization therapy and optimal medical treatment, acute myocardial infarction remains a leading cause of death globally. Therefore, a new strategy called the STOP MI Campaign has been proposed, focusing on preventing acute MI through public education, aiming to reduce the incidence of acute MI fundamentally.

Summary: This study found that the incidence of TTS increased significantly in the acute phase after the Great East Japan earthquake, especially in the coastal area. The magnitude of tsunami damage is presumed to be a factor in this increase, despite comparable seismic intensity in both areas. There were no significant differences in long-term prognosis between inland and coastal areas.

Summary: This study aimed to clarify circadian and seasonal variations in Japanese patients with Takotsubo syndrome, and identify sex-based differences. Results showed that in-hospital mortality was higher in males compared to females, and there were seasonal variations observed in females but not males. Circadian variations were observed in both genders, suggesting differences in pathogenesis and clinical features of TTS according to sex.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the clinical and preintervention optical coherence tomography (OCT) findings to predict irregular protrusion (IRP) immediately after stent implantation. Summary: The study evaluated early and late vascular healing in response to bioresorbable-polymer sirolimus-eluting stents (BP-SES) for patients with ST-elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) and stable coronary artery disease (CAD). Results showed significant improvements in strut coverage and healing processes in the early phase after BP-SES implantation, particularly in STEMI patients, with qualitatively and quantitatively consistent neointimal coverage achieved in both groups at 1 year.
