Summary: This study found that methotrexate (MTX) reduces the humoral immune response to COVID-19 vaccination in patients with autoimmune rheumatic diseases (AIRD), and discontinuing MTX for at least 10 days significantly improves antibody response in patients over 60 years old.

Summary: This study developed machine learning models to screen patients with type 2 diabetes in order to optimize management and reduce medical service costs. The best model utilized the random forest, ElasticNet, and LightGBM algorithms and showed the highest performance. The most significant contributors in the prediction model included FBG values, previous HbA1c values, rational diet, health status, metformin manufacturers, measurement interval, EQ-5D scores, occupational status, and age.

Summary: A retrospective study comparing COVID-19 incidence in Spanish patients with autoimmune rheumatic diseases treated with and without hydroxychloroquine showed that there was no significant difference in the incidence and severity of COVID-19 between the two groups.

Summary: This study evaluated the clinical value of glycosylated hemoglobin (HbA1c) in newly diagnosed ketosis-prone type 2 diabetes (KPD). The results showed that HbA1c was correlated with ketosis, insulin, and islet function. Patients with HbA1c > 10.15% were more likely to develop KPD.

Summary: The study aimed to evaluate the prevalence and development of cardiac adverse events in patients with inflammatory rheumatic diseases treated with hydroxychloroquine. The results showed no association between changes in ECG and echocardiogram in patients under hydroxychloroquine, indicating that hydroxychloroquine remains a safe drug for patients with inflammatory rheumatic diseases.

Summary: This study found that rheumatic patients who chronically use hydroxychloroquine or chloroquine have significantly lower all-cause mortality and hospitalization rates after developing a COVID-19 infection. These findings suggest that these drugs may have a positive impact on the outcomes of COVID-19 patients.

Summary: Obesity may not directly impact disease activity in rheumatoid arthritis patients, but the induction of arthritis can lead to transcriptomic changes in adipose tissue under obesity conditions. Treatment with hydroxychloroquine can reduce weight and insulin resistance, with beneficial metabolic effects in adipose tissue.

Summary: This study investigated changes in the protein profile of colostrum between mothers with gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) and healthy mothers, identifying significant differences in proteins related to carbohydrate and lipid metabolism pathways as well as immunity. Additionally, glycated peptides were upregulated while glycosylated peptides were downregulated in colostrum with GDM, providing insights for infant formula adjustment for infants from mothers with GDM.

Summary: The study found that discontinuation of MTX and LEF due to blood-test abnormalities increased significantly in the first year of treatment, but decreased thereafter. Drug discontinuation due to raised liver enzymes was the most common abnormality. Dose reduction of MTX was more frequent than LEF after the first year of treatment.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate whether patients regularly using colchicine or hydroxychloroquine (HCQ) have an advantage of protection from COVID-19 or developing less severe disease. The findings showed that regular use of these drugs did not result in the prevention of COVID-19 or amelioration of its manifestations.
