Summary: This study aimed to determine the minimum 20-year survival rates of a cementless press-fit cup in young patients. The results showed that the 22-year survival rate for aseptic cup or inlay revision was 94%, and the survival rate for aseptic cup loosening was 99%.

Summary: This study aimed to assess the relationship between prednisone dosage and rates of periprosthetic joint infection (PJI) following total joint arthroplasty (TJA). The study found that patients receiving prednisone therapy were at increased risk of PJI and sepsis, but no dose-dependent relationship between prednisone and infectious complications was identified.

Summary: Patients undergoing THA and TKA from areas with high unemployment and lower educational levels may have more medical comorbidities, but none of the 4 socioeconomic variables studied are independently associated with higher rates of readmission, discharge to rehabilitation, or worse functional outcomes.

Summary: This systematic meta-analysis compares the long-term efficacy of highly cross-linked polyethylene (HXLPE) and conventional polyethylene (CPE) in preventing radiological osteolysis and revision surgery. The results demonstrate that HXLPE dramatically reduces the rate of osteolysis and wear-related revision surgery.

Summary: The study retrospectively evaluated the long-term clinical and radiological results of total hip arthroplasty performed using CLS(R) expansion cup and Spotorno(R) cementless femoral stem. The Kaplan-Meier survivorship estimate for the cup at 13.9 years was 95.6%, decreasing to 85% at 17 years.

Summary: The surgical approach (direct anterior, antero-lateral, posterior) does not have a significant impact on opioid usage in the 180 days following total hip arthroplasty. Previous opioid use before surgery has a more significant effect on long-term opioid consumption post-surgery.

Summary: This study compared the outcomes of total hip arthroplasty (THA) in patients with preoperative asymptomatic gluteal tendinosis (aGT) to a control group without gluteal tendinosis (GT). The results showed that aGT patients with osteoarthritis who underwent THA had favorable patient-reported outcomes at a minimum 2-year follow-up, comparable to those without gluteal tendinosis.

Summary: Young women aged 15 to 45 who undergo total hip replacements have a higher risk of revision compared to those over 75 years old. 12% to 17% of women of childbearing age who have had a total hip replacement will later experience at least 1 pregnancy. Young women who have a total hip replacement do not have an increased risk of pregnancy complications. Among women who experienced pain with a total hip replacement during pregnancy, 60% still felt pain after delivery, with 21% experiencing persistent pain and 4% reporting severe pain. Limited studies suggest that women who have a total hip replacement and subsequently experience pregnancy and childbirth do not have an increased risk of pregnancy complications or revision rates.

Summary: The study used mass spectrometry to study the interactomes of Tribbles proteins, discovering the interaction of TRIB3 with transcriptional regulatory proteins and its new role in gene repression. This comprehensive proteomic assessment revealed previously unknown interactions and functions of Tribbles proteins, expanding our understanding of this protein family.

Summary: Heterotopic ossification refers to the formation of bone in tissues where it is not normally present. The disease can be caused by rare genetic forms or as a response to trauma. Research has identified various cell types and biological pathways involved in the pathogenesis of HO. Recent advances in molecular therapies have shown promise in treating and preventing this condition.

Summary: This study aimed to identify new therapeutic molecular targets for severe HO. Through a genome-wide scan and association analysis, the KIF26B gene was found to be associated with HO severity. The expression of KIF26B in bone and its role in osteogenic differentiation were confirmed through experiments.
