Summary: Bone diseases are common and detrimental to the daily activities and quality of life of middle-aged and elderly individuals. It is essential to identify key regulatory factors and potential therapeutic targets for bone diseases. Irisin, a newly discovered myokine, has been found to have beneficial effects on various diseases, especially bone-related disorders. Research has indicated that irisin plays a role in bone diseases such as osteoarthritis and osteoporosis, suggesting its potential as a molecule for the prevention and treatment of bone diseases. This review summarizes the specific regulatory mechanisms of irisin in different bone diseases and provides a theoretical basis for its application in the diagnosis and treatment of these conditions.

Summary: Despite advances in understanding the biological mechanisms of rheumatic diseases (RDs), a significant proportion of patients still do not achieve remission with current pharmacological treatments. Therefore, patients are increasingly seeking complementary dietary interventions, including the use of herbs and spices. These natural ingredients, which have been widely used for culinary and medicinal purposes across different cultures, are now gaining interest for their bioactive molecules and potential benefits in immune-mediated diseases, including RDs. This paper aims to provide an updated review of the mechanisms through which herbs and spices may be beneficial in RDs, including modulation of gut microbiota, and summarize human studies investigating their effects in Rheumatoid Arthritis, Osteoarthritis, and Fibromyalgia.

Summary: Bromelain, a protease mixture found in pineapple, has beneficial biological properties and exhibits anti-arthritic activities. It protects cartilage from degradation and decreases the expression of inflammatory cytokines in synovial fibroblasts by suppressing NF-kappa B and MAPK signaling pathways.

Summary: Clinical tenderness may not always indicate active inflammation in RA, PsA, and OA. While tenderness in early arthritis may be more associated with inflammation, established disease is better explained by joint damage and malalignment.

Summary: This study investigated the role of microbial dysbiosis and metabolic disorders in different stages of rheumatoid arthritis (RA). The findings suggest that microbial dysbiosis and metabolic disorders exhibit distinct patterns and play stage-specific roles in RA. This provides new insights for prognosis and therapy of RA.

Summary: This study prepared quercetin-loaded chitosan nanoparticles and validated their anti-rheumatic effects in a Freund's complete adjuvant-induced arthritic rat model. The high-dose Q-NPs were found to reduce ankle diameter and levels of inflammatory cytokines, as well as showing significant effects on biochemical tests and oxidative stress parameters. The study concludes that Q-NPs administration may be used for the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis.

Summary: Sleep has a homeostatic role in immune system regulation and can help control inflammation and pain sensitivity. In rheumatoid arthritis (RA) patients, sleep-wake activity dysregulation due to a misaligned inflammatory profile leads to excessive inflammation and increased pain sensitivity. Understanding these risk mechanisms may offer prevention and treatment opportunities for insomnia in RA, potentially improving pain and disease outcomes.

Summary: The immune system and neuroendocrine system interact in chronic inflammation, with the sympathetic nervous system playing a dual role of promoting inflammation and exerting anti-inflammatory effects. The goal of neuroendocrine immunologic research is to identify new therapeutic targets and translate theoretical knowledge into clinical benefits for patients.
